Once again, December has come up fast on me and i'm just now thinking about starting my holiday shopping.  Today was the first day that i tried to come up with gift ideas for various people and, just like every year, i'm having a tough time coming up with the right gift. If only they were celts fanatics....

Before you say it, i know i know, the best gifts are the one's that are unique to the individual's personality/hobbies/ect or are the one's that you construct yourself, but i'll be honest with you, i'm not that artsy and half the people i'm buying for i don't see all too often, so i'm just looking for some solid suggestions.  Basically i'm tired of giving candles and sweaters to people, haha.

So here's what i'm looking at:

gift for a dad who isn't all that active but is into sports/classic rock

gift for a step-mom who's raising two young kids (not sure about a whole lot else, haha)

gifts for the 2 youngsters (ages 7 and 3)

Just some background here, i'm 23 and fully employed, but can only really drop around $40/$50 per person (who can afford much more anyways?!?)

So anyone stumble upon any sweet gifts for anyone in the above mentioned demographics?  I'm not too concerned about the kids, it's the parents who don't really do a whole lot that i'm having trouble with.

Thanks in advance!

Man it doesn't look like anyone is helping you out.  Well here's a couple of ideas:

For the dad, maybe a classic Sports Illustrated or Rolling Stone cover?  I think these are cool ideas and a great gift for people that you don't know what to buy for.  As long as you know his favorite team/player or band a classic cover can be a cool idea.

For the step mom, maybe just get her a massage.  Mom's are usually hard to buy for, so a gift like a massage could be great especially if she spends most of her day chasing around 2 kids.  I would say just google "massage" the amount you want to spend and the area she lives in, and a bunch of options will probably pop up.  You might have to spend the whole $50 budget, or a little more on this though.

Or you could just go the joint route and get them a gift certificate or two to a restaurant (depending on what they like to eat and how much the usually spend on meals).

Just some thoughts, hope it helps.

If your dad reads, there are some good sports books out there.  If not, tickets.

For the step mom...  I will ask my wife later.

I don't know how to say this without it coming across as soliciting biz through CB, but I'll do so anyhow because I honestly think I carry some nice stuff that would be perfect for the sports fan on your list.  I have some really great 11 x 14 matted sports photos at my shop.  I'll leave it at that.  PM me if you're interested and I'll fill you in.  I'm leary of crossing a line here, but as I said, I do think they'd be really nice for your purpose.
Yup

For the step mom you could consider a donation in her name to a charitable organization.  I do this for some of my relatives, but not all -- I have learned that some people really appreciate it, others see it as a total cop-out...
Celtics fan for life.

Who gets to declare the donation on their taxes?
