Manny does not deserve a playoff share

I think the quitting came when he wanted to sit out because of a knee injury and then forgot what knee  it was when he was sent for an mri, Pushing a senior citizen to the clubhouse floor for not getting him tickets, and refusing to pinch hit in a pivital game, and then when ordered to go up, watching 3 fastballs down the middle.

I mean, i love manny, but don't lie for the man, he was p---ed (rightly or wrongly) that the sox wern't picking up his two options on faith and instead wanted to wait until the end of the season to evaluate him.

By the narrow view of saying he hit for .350 in July means he didn't quit, we could look at the .397 he hit for two months in L.A. and say he wasn't playing up to his capabilities by hitting a mere .350 (.347 actually).  This is not to even make mention of the silly power and run production numbers he had in LA in a weaker lineup.

Also, the playoff bonuses are not rewards for making the playoffs.  They are pay for additional games beyond the 162 in the regular season.

BTW, as a fan, I put up with Manny like most of you.  But, there comes a time when enough is enough, and it doesn't matter what he hit, he wanted to leave and cared more about himself and making more money and less about winning in Boston.

you say that like its a bad thing that he may not make playing for a boston club the be all and end all of his desiers as athlete.

 His metheod's were indefensibale, unproffesional, and childlike, and he should be shunned for them, no excuse for his behavior.

 but there is nothing wrong with wanting to earn alot of money at your job as opposed to subjegating yourself to an ideal.

 there's no inhernt requirment for the player to buy into the boston sports motive to play. I'm sure alot of them do, and that's awesome. but sports for them is  a job, a incerdibly well compensating and (hopefully) fun job for them, but a job. Nothing wrong with going to the highest bidder if that's your choice.

Manny's a bad example of this, because he was a moron, but i heard the same thing when Johnny and pedro left. "oh, way to sell out for money!!!!"

so what? They were offered more from a competing buisness, and they took the offer.

Absolutely.  But for the players to not vote him a playoff share, when he absolutely deserves it for his play early in the season, it would set a terrible precedent.  None of the players want to be responsible for setting a precedent that a guy can perform, but not get the money he deserves, because of the way he acted in the clubhouse, or because of his disagreements with management.

I don't disagree, but as I said earlier...I admit that from an objective point of view, Manny deserved a partial share.  However, I reserve the right to be emotional and therefore I don't believe he deserved a partial share for quitting on the team and Boston.
