I'm just wondering how a thread like this can be started wihtout realizing they established the shares months ago. On top of that, Manny hit .350 for the Sox in the month of July, if that is quitting on a team I wish all of our players were quitters. I guess haters just keep hatin'..
First mention of the split of shares in today's Globe...that's why. BTW, as a fan, I put up with Manny like most of you. But, there comes a time when enough is enough, and it doesn't matter what he hit, he wanted to leave and cared more about himself and making more money and less about winning in Boston.
you say that like its a bad thing that he may not make playing for a boston club the be all and end all of his desiers as athlete.
His metheod's were indefensibale, unproffesional, and childlike, and he should be shunned for them, no excuse for his behavior.
but there is nothing wrong with wanting to earn alot of money at your job as opposed to subjegating yourself to an ideal.
there's no inhernt requirment for the player to buy into the boston sports motive to play. I'm sure alot of them do, and that's awesome. but sports for them is a job, a incerdibly well compensating and (hopefully) fun job for them, but a job. Nothing wrong with going to the highest bidder if that's your choice.
Manny's a bad example of this, because he was a moron, but i heard the same thing when Johnny and pedro left. "oh, way to sell out for money!!!!"
so what? They were offered more from a competing buisness, and they took the offer.
