"I just thought it was a really cool tradition," Carroll said.

As for losing timeouts? "I don't care about it right now," Carroll said. "I think it's the fun thing to do, and I think the fans will appreciate it over time."

I know USC is a lot better than UCLA, but is Pete Carroll crazy? Isn't the point of the game to win? Would you put your team at a disadventage just because it was "cool"? Do you think Belichick would ever do this?

This got me thinking. If you were coaching the Celtics (or Pats or whomever), and you could bargain with the opponent's coach, what would you change and how much do you think it would cost? Maybe you could play with 6 guys on the court if you only had 15 seconds to score on a possession.

Seems kind of silly if you ask me. I'm all about tradition but I would never give up my timeouts for it. If anything I'd push for a rule change.

I've thought about this before -- imagine if you could trade players/picks/cash for timeouts or other concessions. It would be hilarious to see guys like Andy Reid, who already can't figure out how to run a 2-minute offense with added options.

Their home colors contrast enough where it really shouldn't matter what color uniform  the teams are wearing.  Who cares?

As long as we're talking about Bellicheck and Carrol, has there ever been a coaching change that worked out better for both parties?

I for one HATE USC.  They make my blood boil.  This though, is awesome.  I love tradition.  It would be even better though, if USC really needs a timeout and ends up losing because of a lack of them.

As far as tradeoffs for the Celtics:  The opponent has to shoot on a 12 ft goal for the entire game.  They start off with a 20 point lead.  Our opponents fg% would be like 15%.

How about the opponent has to pass the ball as much as we do. Our defense would certainly create more turnovers!
