Ray has been amazingly efficient this year; his FG%, eFG% and TS% are on pace to be career highs.  He was actually a little better than this in February and March of last year, but thus far he's been amazing.

to tie this in with the excellent article in the globe, he seems to be more comfrtable driving and finshing around the hoop, last year he was loath to do that. Him and paul are working magic with each other from the wings right now.

Also, and the article said he felt his ankles limited this last year, his jumper seems to be back to what it was form wise in seattle, I.E mostly wrist action of a high release point. Last year he seemed to get less lift and have to put alot more "umph" behind the wrist motion to get his arc.

I've been lucky to see some great athletes at the top of their game in person.  The list of my favorite things that I've seen:

1) Tiger hit a golf ball
2) Ray shoot a basketball
3) Tom Brady throw a football

When Ray is on it is some of the most beautiful basketball to watch in the world.

nice analogy.  so good to say Ray wetting them.  His two fade away threes in the left corner were so nasty.  I wish I could take individual lessons with him.  rondo, so lucky.
Truuuuuuuuuth!

Here's hoping you haven't just jinxed him. Agree though, he's been fabulous this year. Love to Ray.

Jinx?   :D

Are we not allowed to mention it when something good is happening?

Sure we are, but if Ray comes out shooting bricks next game, I'm holding you responsible Redz.

Fine, I can handle that.  I had a potential jinx call on my hands during theFinals last year too. I can't help it, I like the glass half full.

So far so good after one game of potential jinxes...(bumping up thread in response to new thread about Ray Ray getting no love).

Show your love here.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
This Ray Allen is what an all-star is. A player with an all around game who can rely on the drive as much as the shot. Ray's swagger is through the roof right now. His legs are back and he's really fun to watch.

The real Ray Allen has finally shown up in Boston and it's just beautiful. Please don't try and trick me into believing Ray was at an all-star level last year, because he wasn't. Last year Ray was basically Wally 2.0 this year he's just amazing.

Just watching him move without the ball waiting to get the pass is so fun now. He has a smoothness, and confidence to his game that I feel wasn't there last year. I feel like every shot he throws up is going in. Score keepers should just count it the moment he lets go, and rebounders should just run back on D.

I've officially jumped on the Allen bandwagon. No more BIG 2.5 it's the the Big 3.5, the .5 being Rondo. By the end of the year it'll probably be the Big 4.

It's scary isn't it?  They won last year without everyone being at their best.  Hence the inconsistency in the playoffs.  Winning series when one or both of your starting guards COMPLETELY disappeared for games on end.

OK, calm down Redz...It's pretty tantalizing to think about though.   :D

Ray had some hot streaks and cold streaks last year.  He was definitely inconsistent.  There were a couple months where he looked dreadful and shot 41%... and a couple months where he looked fantastic and shot 49%.  Then in the playoffs he was good in the first round, bad in the next 2 and great in the finals.

We might see more of that this year.  But Ray did indeed mention in some recent article about how he was playing with pain last year.  And he definitely seems to have more explosiveness this year (like the dunk last night)... so maybe this good play will continue.

HIs overall numbers last year weren't bad though.  45% FG and 40% from three.   Good stuff.

Ray may be the most clutch shooter I've ever seen.  I can't think of anybody better, and that includes the original Basketball Jesus.

(Note that I said shooter, not player.  Larry had his clutch moments outside of just shots.)

Did K.C. run plays for Danny Ainge at the end of games during the Bird-era?  That's what I want to know.

I asked that question in a game-thread, but it was ignored. People probably thought it`s blasphemy to compare Ray to Larry  ;D

I agree 100%, Ray has to be the most clutch shooter in NBA history.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I'm not sure if his entire body of work qualifies, but the last two years he has been unreal.

My hat is off to the guy. He played sick minutes tonight, and hit one big shot after another.

Ray Allen is a great, great player.

Ray is best clutch shooter ever.

He has now tied Paul Pierce as my favorite Celtic of all-time.

He is a class act and an amazing player who has hit more buzzer beaters and clutch shots in this one series than Lebron or Kobe have in their entire careers (its true, look it up. Lebron only has ONE buzzer beater in his career).

First ballot hall of famer. I think this series seals it.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
