This is what seperates playings like Garnett, Pierce, and Allen away from the superstars in the NBA that havent won a title. Well at least from last years perspective.
Every championship starved superstar will tell you and the media all day about how hungry they are to win a title and do something special. Iverson is no different with his "If I dont win a ring, all the individual accomplishments mean nothing" speech when he was traded to Detriot. At the end of the day though, its fun to see whos really dedicated to getting it done
Its more than just practice too, because Im sure thats what AI will tell you. Garnett, Allen, and Pierce werent just at practice every day, they didnt just back up what they said about sacraficing individual spotlights and accomplishments to get to the bigger goal. But they turned this team into a family last year. Players like Iverson IMO will never understand the bigger picture when it comes to a team. I feel that he thinks, you put my superstar self with other great players and we'll win a title. He wont understand becoming one as a team, one big cohesive unit. Not a bunch of individuals putting up big numbers. He wont make sacrafices, he cant even let someone know he wont be at practice. And you cant tell me he knows the Detriot plays inside and out yet, especially the defense, he still looked lost a couple of times when we played them the other week. He didnt have the whole offseason to be prepared, he cant tell anyone that he doesnt need the practice time.
Im sure one of you will tell me Im blowing this way out of proportion, but this just annoys me every time it happens, no matter how funny the practice quotes are.
