Just wondering which players pop in fans' minds which may be considered Iron Men?

When I think of Iron Man in baseball...Cal Ripken...easy.

In the NBA, I think of John Stockton and Karl Malone.

John Stockton - played 19 seasons over his career for the Utah Jazz and 17 of them he played in EVERY Game! 1 season he missed 4 games total and the other he missed 18. Stock's Iron Man rate for his career is 98.6%!

*If you don't count Stock's lone injury plagued season, the dude played 1440 games out of a possible 1444 games, an astonishing Iron Man rate of 99.7%

Karl Malone - played 18 seasons for the Utah Jazz and missed 10 games....10 GAMES! That's 1434 out of 1444 an Iron Man rate of 99.3% Karl's last season was with the Lakers and it was injury plagued, to say the least, but before that he was virtually unstoppable.

I made a small post about KG's durability and we all know about Paul Pierce (684/706 = 96.9%, does not include tanking for Oden/Durrant season) and Antoine Walker's (552/569 = 97%, includes 24/27 games post Atlanta trade) high durability as Celtics.

Who else come to mind?

Any, ahem, experienced fans can think of players in the hay day of the NBA or CBA which could be considered Iron Men?

A.C. Green is the official NBA "iron man", right?  1000+ straight games.

EDIT:  I looked it up.  Green played in 1278 out of a possible 1281 games in his career (99.77%), and didn't miss a game after his second year in the league (1,192 straight).

Oh, I don't think we can count AC Green...the guy is not human being celibate all that time.....he's not human!

Edit: But seriously, Roy is right....the dude missed 3 games all career (1278/1281 = 99.7% for career) and one season he even played in 83 games.....crazy!

Edit #2: it was 1117 straight games for AC Green. It pales in comparison to Ripkin's 2600+, but baseball is a different sport than the NBA.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
for the new era my ironman is still Allen Iverson. AC Green was obviously an alien species.

AI is a good pick if it's in the same category with AC Green.

AC saved himself for games from the opposite sex.

AI saved himself for game from practice.
