NBA to Pay More Attention to Garnett's Antics

I remember the day the TWolves blog dudes came here and told us we really didn't get how awesome KG really is, yet another reason why he's the gift that keeps on giving. Finger wagging at Calderon, nothing could make me happier, what a stud.

Funny thing about Garnett's 'antics' are that if another guy pulled that against the Celtics, we'd all be up in arms.

Like lets say Stephen Jackson did that same exact thing (that Garnett did to Calderon) to Rondo. We'd be calling for a tech in the least, probably an ejection. We'd all be screaming mad about how Jackson is a classless thug and blah blah blah about how that belongs on the playground.

But since KG did it we all love him for it (myself included).

I completely 100% agree with this post.  I in fact feel the same way in regards to James Posey, as there are teams out there that think he can be a dirty player at times.

To quote Jeff Van Gundy from the playoffs last year.

Van Gundy:  Have you ever noticed that after a foul has been called, James Posey continues to foul the man hes guarding, and if the foul isnt on him, he'll then foul his man after the whistle?

Mike Breen:  What do you think of that if youre a coach?

Van Gundy:  If I'm the Lakers coach I think its dirty and completely unacceptable, and if I'm Doc Rivers, I give James Posey a pat on the back and am proud to have him on my team.

Sounds to me like teams are just hating on KG. They don't like who he is and the intensity he plays with. If their teams had half the fire KG does they might get somewhere.

Its a shame all these grown men are hatin' on KG DA CHAMP!

I agree, they are hating on KG caze he's running his back side off and winning because of it.

I grew up playing basketball and just like my brothers always did talking smack to me and everything i got upset. I would run to my dad and tell them to stop just like the rest of the NBA is doing to stern right now about KG and when i told my dad there were talking smack he would say well its all part of the game basketball is the only sport were you can be face to face with someone and get personal and thats how i learned and now trash talking is a part of my game cause it ****es the other person off! So the NBA needs to stop crying and man up!

The thing that they will be 'paying more attention to' is the same thing that gets Rasheed Wallace so many technicals. I love KG just like all of you, but he doesnt know wheh to shut his mouth during the heat of battle some times. I have personally heard people complain about the amount and volume of cursing going on at NBA games as well. All it takes is a couple of league officials, a couple of players, and a couple of refs to take some of that loud cursing personally and that is the beginning of the problem.

I hope KG has the sense to tone it down and walk away when it really matters. Sheed has cost the Pistons a few big games in the past with his 'so called intensity'. The best thing for us will be if Ray and Paul pull him away from situations before the get out of hand. We also are seeing the beginning of the same type of problem from Perk. He is getting a reputation for his mouth with the officials.

It will only get worse if we are not careful.

KG has always been like this. It is just that for whatever reason (maybe because he is champ) everyone is now all of a sudden up in arms about it. I find it a bit ridiculous. Notice the teams that are complaining. They are not doing alot of winning. Maybe if they start to get some toughness on the court instead of crying about it they might have better records. They sound like crybabies whining to the league about it.

Posey is the kind of guy who if called for a foul, makes sure his opponent knows he has been fouled and doesnt let him get a shot off. Love him if he's ours, hate him if he's not. Same thing with KG except the outward passion KG displays is much greater. Love him as a teammate and hate him on the opposing side, especially when he is winning. Both guys play hard nosed basketball and give no quarter while also asking for none. Dirty? More like intense, aggressive and smart most of the time. Again, depends on what jersey you are wearing.

any comparison of sheed to kg is ridiculous. sheed is always crying to officials. rasheed quits on his team.kg talks sh^znit to pump himself and his team up.  i fully agree that pointing in someone's face HAS to get you a tech. you should never do that to another person in my opinion unless you are prepared or WANT  a fight. but you should be able to talk crap . c'mon. don't make me laugh. i'd love to hear what larry bird would have to say on the subject. also, if any opposing team goes on the record and complains about kg's talking.... wow.  sissies is one word i would use but there IS a more fitting one.
   kevin garnett should be the new logo of the nba. just put a bubble over his likeness with "@#$%^&#$%^&*" inside it.

The comparison is pretty accurate from the standpoint of not knowing when to close ones mouth. Both guys are guilty of letting their emotions control them instead of controlling their emotions. Both are passionate players that are basically good guys, both are well liked by teammates as well. I think we have all known someone who let their 'big mouth' get them in trouble on a regular basis.

Totally agree.  Isn't that why we disliked Horford so much during the playoffs?  KG rubbed me the wrong way when he was on the Wolves.  I remember one game where he was running his mouth and both he and the Mailman got ejected.  I love KG's intensity, but to be honest there are times I wish he would tone down the talking.  And I find all the after-the-whistle blocked shots slightly annoying.  I'd rather have him use the energy to chase down an extra rebound.
But if he REQUIRES it to play to his potential, then he should do what he has to do.

Good point Moiso... except nothing did happen to Horford last year.  So if the NBA starts cracking down on KG, that is a double standard.

Then why do star players get away with more most of the time? If they are thinking that way then they have to change most of how they call things.
