I have 2 random thoughts this evening that others might want to ponder with me...

1. Aside from Robert Horry, is there any other non-celtic with more than 6 rings?

2. If the Celtics can somehow go back to back this year, would Sam Cassell be the only player to ever begin and end his career with back to back championships?

I don't thin anyone other non celtic has more than 6 rings other than Horry.  Jordan, Pippen and Kareem have 6.

Here's what I found while searching:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Basketball_Association_players_with_most_championship_rings

Not sure about the Sam question. I'd say that he would be the only one but that is hard to check.

I did some more digging.

Here is the list of players with four or more titles from basketballreference.com

     Bill Russell     BOS
    Sam Jones    BOS
   John Havlicek    BOS
   Tom Heinsohn    BOS
   K.C. Jones    BOS
   Tom Sanders    BOS
    Robert Horry    HOU/LAL/SAS    1
   Frank Ramsey    BOS
   Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
   Bob Cousy    BOS
   Michael Jordan    CHI
   Jim Loscutoff    BOS
   Scottie Pippen    CHI
    Michael Cooper    LAL
   Ron Harper    CHI/LAL
   Magic Johnson    LAL
   Steve Kerr    CHI/SAS
   Slater Martin    MNL/STL
   Don Nelson    BOS
   Dennis Rodman    DET/CHI
   Larry Siegfried    BOS
   Tim Duncan    SAS
   Horace Grant    CHI/LAL
   George Mikan    MNL
   Vern Mikkelsen    MNL
   Shaquille O'Neal LAL/MIA
   Robert Parish    BOS/CHI
   Will Perdue    CHI/SAS
   Jim Pollard    MNL
   Kurt Rambis    LAL
   John Salley    DET/CHI/LAL
   Pep Saul    ROC/MNL
   Bill Sharman    BOS

Going through the list no one has started and then ended their careers with two titles. However Jim Pollard would have had he not played for one more year in 54-55!
