thanks for the derek strong reminder.  And Minor, wasn't he "baby jordan"? :-[

Shaw's name reminded me of another Shaw..... Kelvin Upshaw who played less than a 1/2 season for the C's way back when.

Kevin Pinckney? Well, since we're all just throwing out arbitrary names and memories as absolutes, let me jump in there. :D

Kelvin Upshaw

Lohaus v. Rodman

Battie's Knees

Eric Williams fake Negro Basketball league clothing line

Rollo Tomase

CrotOr?

I agree with Chris and others however that the whole "true fan" /"Bandwagon fan" is kind of irritating. IMO, it's akin to listening to people arguing what "true Punk Rock" is, and what's fake, even though their arguments are entirely lifted from a music magazine that they read at Borders a month before. Both arguments seem to me to be about pointless one-upsmanship based on total crap.

Okay, what am I talking about again? Oh right, sorry Greg, but the actual answer is "Jimmy Rogers's fro."

Edit: I missed JB Cat's mentioning of Kelvin Upshaw. He was my favorite player when I was like, 8.

He actually played two seasons.
But only 37 games  :)
When NBA basketball was aired for the
first time in Denmark (circa 1989), his
name was one I liked. I don't know why.
I just liked the ring of it, I guess.

Can we all just settle on "Crotor"?
As in "I don't know what Crotor means
but if you've heard of it, you're a
diehard?!"  :)

That's funny, Upshaw was my favorite player when I was like 6.  I think it was either because I loved # 7(which is why Dee was my favorite player long before the dunk contest bandwagon) or when Upshaw buried a length of the court shot.
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

Looking for a Wire - Rondo theme....PM with ideas and I'll tp

NerfDPOY is more punk than me.   :D  I just wanted to lend my vote to the argument of "who is the biggest/ best fan" is idiotic, and if you're in green, we're family!

But this thread is a lot of fun for those of us with memories of the dark ages after 1987.  I myself started watching games regularly on my parent's TV in 87.

Eric Williams was cool, right?  I like that he would always say "big daddy" all the time.

Rogers, too.  What an awesome sense of style.  TP 4U

Redz, this is one of those moments where I'm not sure if it's a case of "Great minds think alike", or " Oh man, I think that I've really fried some brain cells the last several years". Having read through the whole thread, sponging up the posts, and having no memory of this one, I'm leaning towards the latter. I really thought that I came up with that off the top of my head.

I feel like Mike Barnicle right now.

Does anyone want to read an idea I was kicking around about how Baseball and Football are so drastically different from each other? You see, baseball starts in the spring, when there's new life.......

Fake Edit: To Kevin Gamble, Thanks and I will reciprocate. Truthfully, I'm actually too punk, even for punk rock. It's an exclusive club and there's only like 7 or 8 of us walking the planet, like "Jumpers".

And to Truck Lewis, I don't know what it was with me either. I think that it actually boiled down to being impressed with a few isolated plays. But when you're a little kid, that's about all of the history/experience that you have to work with. Needless to say,he's not in my top 5 anymore.........

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

 :D

I just look at it like it must mean that it is in fact the correct answer.  Which would indeed make me happy in some weird way.

I find that nowadays when I forget something I need to ask myself "What would I do if I were me?".  Does that make any sense?

Anyhow...Barnacle shmarnacle...any reference to Jimmy Rogers' fro is a good one in my book (though I'm sure I could find a negative result for that hypothesis rather quickly - as in "Waitress, what's Jimmy Rogers' fro doing in my soup?"..."It appears to be doing a layup drill sir.")

Yup

If you have a Celtics jersey with the #20 and its for Sherman Douglas, you're not a bandwagon fan

* - unless you bought your Sherm shirt because you were a Syracuse Orangemen fan and stopped following the Celts as soon as Sherm was gone
