I think the 'confusion' arises from the fact that he is about 6-6.  So when you match him up against centers it is a major mismatch.  He IS a PF who can play C at times but certainly not someone you want playing exclusively at C.

If by C you mean his grade at center, but if you are actually saying he is a center...

Ummmm.... no.

He cannot match up against any reasonably sized fives.  Sure, he has great intensity, and is fearless, and can take charges with the best in the league, but he is in NO way a center.  He can't play post D, he doesn't have the footwork or size, or strength, and I know he is strong.

He only played a couple of minutes at back-up center, Big Baby took most of those minutes.

What made you think he was a true center from this game?  Because honestly, that statement makes no sense.

I'm assuming he meant it because Powe plays pretty much exclusively in the post. Which is exactly where he's useful. I love the fact that he seems to be even more intense that last season, KG has really rubbed off on him. He's a great spark off the bench, but there's no way he's a starting center.

With Powe looking like this, Rondo looking faster, Tony Allen looking healthy, our bench is in great shape. The second unit should start clicking as the season progresses.

Leon roxs!   He forces the other team to pay attention to him on the floor. This makes it easier on the big 3.

Leon plays in the post on offense, so there he can play the role of a center. Not so on defense. How many shot blocks does he get a season?

Great game by Powe though. He looks even better this year. Unstoppable down low.

yeah, that is exactly how I think of Powe.  Position? not quite sure.  Bball player? absolutely!
Celtics fan for life.

Leon is amazing!

I am kind of worried that he is a FA next summer...shouldn`t we try and resign him now?

Powe was outstanding. Good moves with the basketball inside, good defense.

Still think we need a bigger backup 5, however - along with a perimeter shooter off the bench.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Leon is a good reserve PF.

He is being forced to play out of position at C.  He is just to short and doesn't have the athleticism to overcome the lack of height (like a Ben Wallace had when he was an all-star)

He also needs to grab more rebounds if he is going to play 20+ minutes.

Love Powe.

You are wrong, he is not a C. He's a PF. That's as obvious as it gets.

He isn't even playing Center.  Generally when he is out there, either KG or Big Baby play center, and he plays PF.  Not that it really matters, because for the Celtics, the positions are pretty much interchangable, Doc just arranges the matchups based on who is better suited to cover a particular player.

Powe definitely isn't a Center though.

They had him guarding Big Z and KG on Wally for a stretch last night.  (which is the right matchup at that point since KG has the speed to stay with Wally)
