I've noticed that it's been remarkably quiet in here the past few days, which seems odd, with it being opening night.  What gives?  Are people burnt out on the Celtics?  Have we all grown complacent and started treating the season as a warm up for the playoffs?  Is our roster so set that there's nothing worth discussing at this point?

I'm pretty curious about this.  Of course, the real test will be tonight, but so far, this place looks like a ghost town.  What do you guys attribute that to?

All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino

i don't want to be a debby downer, but it seems to have happened around the time the website switched over. i personaly like the new design, but i Can't deny thinking the same thought your voicing ever since the swap. forum activity has seen a STEEP drop since the new format.

my hope is that a bunch of people just haven't claimed thier accounts yet because they've been to busy, and they'll filter back in as we get started season wise.

well, 185 people voted on the front page story already and the sidebar poll has about 700 votes, so people are out there seeing the site

we just updated the widget that shows the latest forum posts, so hopefully that will help people find the forums better

I know we changed a lot, but I think it is for the better and I hope people will keep talking Celtics here as they always have.

i don't think its going to be an issue Jeff, and kudos on the new design.

I just think it will take a bit for people to port everything over to the forums. I'd say in like a week or two, mabey less with the season starting (yay!) everyone who's a regular will be postin again.

just trying to think of some reason the forums have been slow lately.

heck, depending on tonights game, ther's bound to be several overreaction threads alone!

If TA struggles or we (not going to happen) lose, i predict at least 3 "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET JAMES POSEY GO!!!!" threads.

I've been wanting to start this exact same thread for two days but thought, "nah, people just haven't found their way to the Forums area just yet." I thought for sure with the season just days away that the activity would be off the hook.

I really hope it's just that.

Come on now, there will be at least 5...we just will lock at least 2 of them.

I've been addicted to celticsblog for a few years now.  (I probably spend an average of two hours a day on it, which is more time than I devote to a lot of other things in my life, enough to allow me to justify it personally as an addiction.)  I love the celtics and its so cool to have a community to share thoughts about them with.  That being said, I hardly ever post on Celticsblog, for no particular reason...I think i like reading what people have to say a lot more than coming up with my own coherent thoughts on all this stuff.  I always admire everyone who has the courage to throw themselves outs there, argue a point of view.  Its fun to post stuff, but it can be nerve racking to leave yourself open to being scrutinized. I know we can't see eachother's faces, but it can be intimidating all the same sometimes.   Maybe people are doing a similar thing and just sitting back and trying to get a feel for the personalities and temperment on the forums.  That brings up the question, how many members are there currently on (the newest) Celticsblog?  How many people have reclaimed their names?  Are we up or down from before?

Maybe thats confidential info or something, but I'd be interested to know.  Either way, I don't think I'm capable of abandoning Celticsblog.  I'd start nervously shaking after a few days and I'm pretty sure I'd see baby's walking on the ceiling and stuff.

By the way, I definitely dig the new Forums widget being so prominently displayed.  Very solid upgrade, and I think it will help forum participation drastically.

  • The good ole days.
I also think it's due to the change over...

Something about the forums just seems... well... "off".  The sidebar on the right seems more obtrusive and wider than the older left sidebar was and it pushes the content off center.  Also, the type within a post and for the user name, stars, TPs, pic, etc just seem smushed and slightly awkward.

The best way I can some it up is the weird look you get when you sit at a new computer and the screen resolution is different, making the icons and everything huge.  It's not THAT bad though.

People will get used to it... just a slow transition I guess.

I believe I've seen a decline in the frontpage comments as well, no? People are just getting used to the new layout, I think. In the other message board I post, politics related, this also happened. Eventually people will come back.
