Rondo has the starting job locked down
House is a good compliment because he can provide shooting when Rondo is struggling

But more importantly, House ( as proven while he was pushed aside in favor of Cassell during last year's playoofs but then was ready when called late in the run... ) is the perfect fit behind Rondo and for this team because...

His temperament and apparent lack of major ego will allow him to easily hang in the back ground this year if Pruitt can slowly earn minutes but he'll still be ready when called upon.

We need Pruitt to increase his role because of his athleticism and shooting. That was one or weaknesses last year against the younger teams.

House will be able to step aside and allow that growth without it affecting the team.

And he'll also be ready when called upon.

Nice roatation at the point position Ainge.

I think we might see a lot of lineups this season with 2 PGs.  Whether it be Rondo/Pruitt, Rondo/House, or Pruitt/House.  Even Cassell can play both positions.  We don't have a backup 3 (I doubt Walker will get much burn at the start of the season) and so I think TA will get a lot of time backing up Pierce.

There will be a lot of 3 guard lineups with 2 legit big men in there (no more Posey at the 4) and I think it could work out well.

I think we'll see a lot of Pruitt and House together on the floor, with TA being the full-time backup for Pierce.

House is the perfect 5th guard for this team.  He can be third string PG and SG, and get a few consistent minutes each game at each position, even though you don't really want him playing long stretches at either.

I expect him to average about 10-15 minutes per game as a utility guard, and be ready to step up when they need him...and I think that is exactly what Danny signed him for.  He is not there to be the primary backup of any one position, but is just a basketball player who finds a way to help his team win.

I'm sorry but the though of Tony Allen, Greg Pruitt, and Eddie House all being on the floor at the same time scares the hell out of me. Pruitt would be the tallest guy of the three and he would be playing the point. Ouch!

Yeah I'm pretty sure that lineup will only see the light of day during preseason or 20 point blowouts.  Although Doc is a 'tinkerer' - meaning he likes to tink.

I think Eddie will be getting more like 20 minutes a game.  He fits in perfectly with Pierce wanting to be the ball handler.  Rondo will still have his bouts of shooting woes and floor will need to be spaced. Although I guess you could make the case for Pruitt but, knowing Doc it's going to take minor miracle for him to get consistent minutes during the regular season.

except TA is regarded as one of the best defenders on the team. and if those were the 3 guards i'd imagine KG would be in there with them, becuase of Doc usually having 1/3 of the three party on the floor.

By whom, Tanguay and Felger?
God bless and good night!

I've mentioned it before but I think we will see a lot of lineups featuring House, Pruitt, and TA along with Big Baby and Patty O.

Eddie was one of the most under-appreciated guys on last years squad. He was so big for us in so many games and brought more energy to the floor than probably anyone other than KG. I am so glad that in spite of him getting the PT shaft with the arrival of Sam, that he decided to re-up with us. He adds so much to our bench and makes this team enjoyable to watch. I hope the guy retires a Celtic. I love to see him enter the game and our success this year will have a lot to do with his ability to score and bring energy off the bench. Hopefully we'll see Minnie Eddie on the sidelines as much as last year.

OMG, I hope not. Of course, if we do maybe it's because we are constantly up by 25 points a lot. ;D

I hope so! Because it will mean we are up by 25 points a lot! Honestly if Doc really is going to limit the playing time of the big three I could see him having like a ten man rotation during the regular season featuring groups like House, Pruitt, TA, Baby, and Patty O.

Besides, I think we saw this preseason that when we play certian teams(cough. . . New Jersey. . . cough) our second unit can compete with their starters.

I think it also would be good to give the younger guys plenty of burn to see what we have. We have to be trying to win right now while still developing the future if we want to have a dynasty.

That's one thing I love about this team. The starting five are so good as a unit that they will give Doc the opportunity to use a long bench and develop talent because they will make so many games a laugher and the young guys will get the burn.

Back in the 60's, 70's and 80's rookies and younger players often sat whole seasons being developed in practice before being given playing time. It was a much smaller league and teams were much deeper.

Getting back to the original subject of Eddie House, he is a perfect fit for this team. Ultimately he might not be the guy behind Rondo because I think Pruitt is so much more of a PG than Eddie but his versatility and ability to get his shot off so quick when coming around the screens that Doc's offense sets up is perfectly attuned to his game off the ball and not on it.

Amen to that. As the self-proclaimed biggest Eddie House fan on this blog, I also hope he retires a Celtic. However, I'm also a realist, and a guy like him staying on a team for more than a few years is rare. The thing that I like the most about him though is his energy and intesity. Three-point shooting specialists are often softees who don't play defense, or care about anything but making their shots. Eddie is the exact opposite of the player I just described. While not the most talented defensive player, I love his aggresiveness in hassling the opposing pg and fighting through picks. Like you said, the energy he brings to the floor is something that is overlooked by many fans; I agree that his energy comes close to even trumping KG's.

This preseason his shot has been lights out. And from what I've seen, his ball-handling is looking alright as well. Has anyone else noticed a slight improvement in his dribbling?

Eddie House - for THREEEEEEE!
