I think one of the underrated aspects of Ainge's tenure thus far is how well he understand the concept of contrasting and complimentary players on a team and how important that is...

think about it with the team he's assembled.

Perkins: banger, defense and rebounding oriented
O'Bryant: finesse, more athletic compliment

Garnett: Though physically tough, Really an athletic, finesse player
Powe and Baby: bulls in a china closet

Pierce: Also, though physically tough, really a talented finesse player with a great outside shot
Walker: Slasher who loves to rumble around the rim, kind of like a smaller and more athletic Powe

Ray Allen: Great outside shooter not know for defense
TAllen: Slasher and brawler known to play d with a so so outside shot

Rondo: defense, pass and rebound, so so outside shot
House and Pruitt: great outside shooters.

The differences between the starters and subs give a coach incredible flexibility with linups and match ups.

No sub is a mirro to their respective starter

nice job Ainge.

good observation

I'm not sure how deliberate those results were, but they are certainly a benefit to Ainge knowing talent when he sees it.

agree, though pierce is one off the best slashers in the league, i don't consider him a finesse player with a great outside shot. he's a slasher with a great mid range and outside shot.
