I think he already had his big play .. people seem to forget the tag out at third he had in the angels series..

Personally, I think Tek is doing alright .. he cant hit and we know that .. he will continue to not hit and we have to accept it .. I have.

Probably one of the most over rated players in New England sports history.

How this guy continues to get a free pass is beyond me.

If you want to pull the "look how he handles this pitching staff" argument, look no further than the position this team is in right now. The Sox should have had his replacement lined up already.

Most overrated in New England sports history? I don't know man the guy is what 36?  His better days are behind him.  His hitting is still there but diminshed from what it used to be a few years ago but he can still handle the pitching staff and is still a solid defensive catcher.

I'm going to have to chime in here....either you are joking, a yankees fan, or ignorant of any facts.  A few thoughts on your overrated player:  voted greatest catcher ever in college baseball; 4 no-hitters caught (most in the history of MLB); 3 all star games; golden glove winner; silver slugger winner; and captain of a two-time world champion baseball team.  The man is definitely on the backside of a great career, but no way could you ever call him over rated.

Tek is DUN!

You can't have a player in the AL that just can not hit any more.  You give up too much to have him "handle" the pitchers.  When the Sox make the WS this year, there will be two automatic outs when the games are in the NL park, Tek and the pitcher.

Thank you Tek for your great career with the Red Sox, but it's time to move on.

It's also time to move on without Lowell, Wake, and Timlin.  Lowell's best season was last year.  They should have not resigned him and gone a different route.

That's the difference with the Pats and the Sox.  BB does not get tied up in emotion.  He would not have brought Lowell back.

It's time to shift Youk to third and go after a 1B or promote one of the 1B from the minors.  1B is a power position and while I love Youk as a player, he puts up 3B numbers.

Put it this way, if he hits, it will look like a miracle to all the fans and you will be hailed as a prophet, because there is no more of a unlikely hero to emerge than the slow bat of tek.  Overrated.

Speaking of improbable stars, how great was it to see Crisp get a clutch hit?  I guess we all root for the underdog a little in sports.

Talking about Tek as if he is overrated is stupid.  look, there are what, 5 good catchers in baseball?  it is a position which is devoid of talent.  Tek does what this team needs, and that is manage the game for the pitchers.  he isnt the hitter he once was, but if the rest of the team is hitting, it doesnt matter.  They can deal with him being an offensive black hole.

Now next year?  we'll see.  I still think they sign him for at least another year

Tek needs to go.  He couldn't hit a Little League pitcher, he couldn't throw Perk out if he was trying to steal second, and the staff that he "manages so well" is getting shelled day in and day out.

That being said, he is past his prime, not overrated.  In his day he was one of the best in this league.  He was in integral part of two rings.

I'm going yes with this poll.  I said it during Game 2, he's going to hit a big home run at some point in this series.

Oh come on!  Theo parted ways with Nomar, DLowe, Pedro, Damon and Manny.  If you think he gets caught up in emotion, you don't know what emotion is, my friend.

Good retort.

He's toast, no doubt about it but he was a really good and valuable player for the sox.

As for him coming through with a big hit... it' not a bad prediction, they assume Tek is an automatic out so they might get complacent with him... plus they don't want to walk him so he should see some pitches over the plate...I mean he has to do something eventually right?
