I moved to New England as a kid in the mid eighties, so while it took me a while to let go of my Giants allegiance (this was at the height of the Parcells/LT era, I embraced the Celtics on day one. It was easy to get sucked in to a team like that. I can't actually remember seeing Larry Bird miss a single shot. I remember when Reggie died and feeling nothing but shock. I remember when Pitino was hired and being thrilled. I then remember the next year wondering why exactly he was a "genius".

I remember feeling outraged when Pierce was stabbed. I remember loving Jim O'Brien as a coach. I was sad when Delonte left. Results aside, he was one of the few players of that group who I felt played with the intesity that is required when you are paid millions to play a game. I remember wanting to believe that Raef/Ricky/Wally/Kenny/Shammond/Battie was actually better than people thought.
I still get chills when I see the Celtics commercial with "Day After Day" playing. I remember sitting in nosebleed seats in the playoffs, thinking at each successive game, "now this is the loudest it can possibly get in here, right?" The Celtics rolling rally is the first victory parade I've ever attended.
And finally, I just broke my lifetime boycott of ticket agents to obtain tickets to the season opener next week. I get giddy just thinking about about seeing that banner go up.
