Honestly doc is so annoying sometimes. Against ny his stats and capabilities sucked because doc once again emphasizes that the big three do most of the decision making in the court.

The game before it was depended on pruitt to help the celts win. This needs to happen more
Yeah, so annoying, this Doc. Forcing your three best players make the decisions. Appalling!

maybe the game ratings are correct, maybe he is better than rondo. you never know- rondo never got playing time till the 2nd half of his rookie season. pruitt hasn't gotten much playing time at all.

It's preseason.  He played 44 minutes, shot poorly, had as many turnovers as assists, but... props to him for putting up some stats in the preseason.   A day after the great Gerald Green puts up 29 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in 20 minutes.   Horray for preseason.  Maybe if Gerald had played 44 minutes he would have put up 65 points and 15 rebounds.

then why are people so impressed by the play of tony allen as well as the rookies?

you can't call gerald a bust just yet. people expected too highly of him (for him to become an all-star like brandon roy) and he's on his way to becoming a serviceable backup. he's too young to say he has no future in the nba.

Become Legendary.

Coach Knight used to say that basketball players were prone to suffer from a disease called "Inflamed Gland of Personal Expectations" - common name these days being "chuckerisis" or "turnover-waiting-to-happenisis".

During the pre-season, fans suffer from a similar disease - inflamed gland of rookies and newcomers expectations, maybe?

Zerophase.  Gerald's a bust.  Tony's still inconsistent.  And the rookies aren't impressive at all.   There.

But KG is going to carry this team with help from his two allstar-level buddies Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.  Perk's going to be a serviceable defensive bigman with the slowest offensive reaction time on the planet.  Rondo's going to have games where even casual NBA fans say, "Wait... maybe he's on Devin Harris and TJ Ford's level afterall..."  Powe will have a few random double doubles scattered throughout the season.   House will have games where he has clowns starting threads saying "maybe House should start over Ray"... Tony will shut down a few people and have a couple 20 point outbursts.... and together that group will make us a contender for the 2009 title.

Sprinkle on a few Patrick O'Bryant blocks, Gabe Pruitt three pointers and Bill Walker dunks to satisfy the "grasping at straws" crowd.

And Harvey Dent turns into Two-Face midway through "The Dark Knight"

Pruitt really impresses me. I think Miles should get cut. He's shown nothing so far.

I consider Gerald a bust the same way I consider Jermaine Oneal a bust for Portland.  He never gave much of anything to the team that drafted him.  Green still has plenty of potential to become a decent (or better player), but he will forever be a bust for the Celtics.

Back to Pruitt, he's shown me alot.  I had kind of given up on him last year, but I was wrong.

If I were Darryl Morey, I'd be on the phone to Ainge right now trying to get Pruitt, because he would be an upgrade over Alston.  Pruitt would be a great fit in Denver as well.

Dr Cordobes, on the job.  ;)

The kid (Pruitt) played well tonite. All things considered he has grown quite a bit since last preseason. The turnovers are troublesome, but I think he was given the keys to this game (unbeknownst to him) before it even started.

I cant say I'm disappointed, but I also will remember it is still a preseason game and that was a very lame Nets lineup. I just gotta keep it in a bigger perspective until we get a little deeper into this year before I anoint Gabe as the heir apparent to the 6th man job. 8)

I am not suprised at all by Pruitt's play. Last year I got skewered for comparing him to DJ in the following way:

1. He reminds me a bit of DJ in his demeanor on the floor. He seems to constantly be thinking the game. You can see the wheels turning all the time. I think he's a quiet intensity type player. But I think he's smart and knows how to play.

He's also:

1. Much more athletic than DJ ( at least later in his career)
2. He's cat quick in the passing lanes
3. Great shooter ( nespecially once he gets more comfortable
4. Long for a point
5. better passer than he appears
6. Has the tools to be a great defender with his speed, athleticism and length

I think he's a perfect complimetn to Rondo as well. because he is very good at Rondo's weakness...shooting.

I think he has a bright future in the league. We'll see more of it this year, mixed in with too many turnovers along the way. By next year he'll BE the back up point.

Not suprised at all.

Pruitt to me is going to be Delonte West , hopefully he can go to his weak hand though unlike delonte. Everything else reminds me on Delonte though, he can shoot from the outside, seems to be a tough defender , has pg abilities but has to cut down on the turnovers (which he will as he continues to get more playing time)and has a quiet confidence about himself.

^^^ He has always looked better then West. The West comparison comes up because he is think and a SG/PG. But Pruitt shows none of West one handed play - and much better one on one ability. You might as well compare Pruitt to any PG/SG like Devin Harris or Gilbert Arenas. There is nothing particulary "west like" about his game.
I don't see that much in come with their games actually.
