Gerald Green went 7-11 with 18 points. 1 reb, 1 stl, 1 ast, 1 bs, and 2 to. Are you guys impressed with his Maverick debut? I did not see the game so I don't know how he did. But, honestly, his stat line is better than I thought it would be.

I'll wait to be excited about Gerald Green when I see him recognizing a few defensive rotations.  In pre-season, teams are working on their talent and pt is more available for developmental players.  We always knew Gerald had the potential to be a scorer.  However, we, or at least I, gave up on him when he consistently showed that he was going to give those points back on the other end and was not improving in that area.  Lets see if his defense has improved to a point where he can stay on the court during the regular season before we get excited about him again.

Just a preseason game. I mean I wish the best of luck to anyone, but you have to go out there and work for it and not expect it all to come naturally like it may have in the past. More consistency and some defense and I guess I will relook the situation.

CsfanNH

haha Its funny how Gerald has a pretty [dang] good game for his standards and the few people I've talked to/read posts say oh its just a preseason game.  Meanwhile Bill Walker has a few sick throw downs and we are all claiming him a future star?  That doesn't really make sense haha. Its preseason and its one game, for any and all players so it doesn't mean much.  By the way CsfanNH this wasn't calling you out I agree, but just used your post to make a point.  Hope you don't mind  :P

The difference is that we've seen this act before from Gerald Green and it has yet to amount to anything

We get excited about Bill Walker being a contributor because the thing that kept him out of being a first round pick was injuries. and judging by those dunks, at least for the time being, it's not much of an issue.

-To the comment that Green only came on once the Mavs established a large lead
The Mavs also gave that lead up in the 4th quarter, and Gerald ended up hitting a few "big" (in the preseason sense) shots as well as free throws to win the game.

-To the comments regarding Gerald's defense
He actually looked pretty solid out there defensively, and was quite frankly giving the most effort I've seen him give on that end since he guarded Kobe a few years ago and did a solid job.

-To the comments that it was just one preseason game
Yes, yes it was, and I agree that generally speaking it means nothing. But from everything I've seen in summer league this year, from the interviews and the reports, and from Gerald's general body language on the court, he seems to have had the wake up call he needed to get his head on straight. I think he's working harder than he ever did before, and I think he's lost that sense of entitlement. Maybe it's all an act, but if that's the case Gerald's much smarter than anyone around here ever gave him credit for.

Apparently Carter has become so famously overrated that he is now underrated.

BWUAHAHAHA!... that's funny... When I read that guy who said that first I almost crapped in my pants.

Anywho... to whoever said we "didn't give Gerald a good chance."  I retort, we did.  We call it Tony Allen.  Same dude except Tony Allen actually puts in work and wants to supplement his natural athletic ability with BBIQ.  Gerald was a bad seed.  Doc even said him winning the dunk contest was probably the worst thing that happened to him.

I used to love G$, but now that time has past... I'm starting to see him for who he is.

He's not G$. His name is Gerald, until he proves otherwise.

Has any other Celtics bust garnered this much affection on the internet?

Seriously, where are all the Kedrick Brown fanatics? I swear, he's going to turn a corner, just you wait.

Is Marcus Banks Mania still running wild?

As for the Gerald > Vince Carter comment, that's really absurd.

Gerald had every chance to succeed here. We jumped at the chance to draft him. It's not Danny or Doc's fault that his confidence crumbles every time the head coach gives him a dirty look.

Just because he's not shuffling his feet with his head down after making boneheaded turnovers, doesn't mean to Celtics can possibly regret letting him go.

The Gerald talk is exhausting, but I guess his legacy will live on.

For some reason.

Oh-Dae-tsu.

Gerald garners so much affection because he was the only thing that was entertaining about the C's for like 2 years as he jumped out of the gym... We wanted him to be the savior but ultimatley his attitude crushed his chances...

he's the next Ricky Davis if you ask me... :-\

how many minutes? idk, maybe he will actually show something this year. he's too young to be called a bust but i'm still not holding out for him. he'd be 1/10 of vince carter at most.

Become Legendary.

GG can score no doubt about it, but can he play within an offense where he is not the go to guy? Can he play D? Those are the questions.
