Gerald Green went 7-11 with 18 points. 1 reb, 1 stl, 1 ast, 1 bs, and 2 to. Are you guys impressed with his Maverick debut? I did not see the game so I don't know how he did. But, honestly, his stat line is better than I thought it would be.

Just a preseason game. I mean I wish the best of luck to anyone, but you have to go out there and work for it and not expect it all to come naturally like it may have in the past. More consistency and some defense and I guess I will relook the situation.

haha Its funny how Gerald has a pretty [dang] good game for his standards and the few people I've talked to/read posts say oh its just a preseason game.  Meanwhile Bill Walker has a few sick throw downs and we are all claiming him a future star?  That doesn't really make sense haha. Its preseason and its one game, for any and all players so it doesn't mean much.  By the way CsfanNH this wasn't calling you out I agree, but just used your post to make a point.  Hope you don't mind  :P

Point well made. I agree with both of you. Still, there's a difference: not much to read if players like Garnett, LeBron or Duncan underperform in a pre-season game; ditto for players like Green, with a solid record of not delivering the pork - he'll need to do much more than this. From unknown quantities like rookies, it's always encouraging to see them producing (although dunks are way over-rated...).

p.s. - I was checking the box-scores and noticed that Darius Washington had a nice game for Chicago. 14 pts, 4-7 FG, 2-3 3PT, 1 as, 2 st.

One year ago:
Quote
The Spurs rested most of their starters but even their second string appeared to be in mid-season form with the offense clicking to beat the Warriors 116-111. Undrafted guard Darius Washington had a sensational stat line for the Spurs scoring 18 points, grabbing 9 boards, handing out 8 assists and nabbing 3 steals

I predict he'll be back to Europe in a few weeks.

Yup. NO question that it takes more than one game that doesn't count to prove anything about players who've established their sheer mediocrity in the past.

I'd take Green over Vince Carter... Media created, Over hyped and flashy.

So, Vince Carter=Messiah. In that case, I'd also take Green over Vince.

p.s. - Just to add my 2 cents before all these posts are deleted.

Green didn't come on until the third quarter after the Mavericks had built up a huge lead. I didn't watch the fourth quarter because the game was over and the better players were all sitting on the bench, but in the third Green was poor ... he was just out there gunning for his with no regard for his teammates. Defense was weak too. I don't know if he picked up in the fourth or not but the little I saw was unimpressive.

The guys he was out there on the court with were weak, players like Charles Rhodes, Cheyne Gleasen and JaJuan Smith.  A lot of the Bulls players were weak also - Washington, Powell, Nichols.

Mavs however were quite impressive. They were playing quick attacking basketball and causing Chicago a lot of problems. Looking forward to seeing them play some more this season.

at least VC knows how to play somewhat solid defense, and has more in his bag of tricks than flashy wide open dunks lol.

I'll be curious to see if he can crack the Mavs rotation. If he finally got his head on straight he could provide some decent scoring off the bench.  (no analogy here)

I'm adding CDR to all my G$ talk because I think he's the guy we should've picked up and he looks like (yes based on 1 preseason game) he could be a player. He's in the guys we gave up on too soon or didn't give enough of a chance to who still have a chance to break out.
