Gotta hand it to Antoine...Whenever there's a camera around, he never fails to bring attention to himself(bad and/or good...lol).

I doubt Antoine will ever get another multiyear deal again. 
I would not be opposed to signing him for the min. next year however.

TP to Yall Hate for NOT hating on Antoine. As for shookones99, I agree with signing him but maybe this year would be better. With him actually being in shape, it could be the best thing for him. But I could see the interest in signing him next year so we can wait and see how our other SFs pan out this year(Miles,Giddens,BWalker,Pierce) To me, there will always be a roster spot on the team for him.

My dream idea right now would be to sign him next year, along with AI possibly. That would be a sick bench

I've read that if the Grizz are seriously considering using Walker's contract as trade bait, they will play Walker more and try to showcase him.

Also heard he is torching whatever competition the Grizz have on that squad.

Hakeem Warrick is his "competition" and Toine just abused him like he was not even there.  From what I hear, he'll be in the Power-Forward Spot this time around and the Coach (Ivaroni-something) said that the Best Players(the ones who play well) will play and there won't be a full-on "youth-movement" like there was in Minny.   


If that's the case, I see Toine starting at the 4-spot.  Should be interesting how well he meshes with Gay, Mayo(you KNOW he's going to start), and Gasol(Marc, that is).....

Antoine Walker was a great player for this team. He and Paul made the name of the Boston Celtics significant again after long years... To measure the impact of his game in the fans, just check back at the reaction when Danny brought him back. He was a very important player in those dark years and his memory will remain. I just think that he didn't have strong coaching on him, nobody made him change his style as Doc made with Paul.

That said, he belongs to the past of this franchise and i wish him the best for the rest of his career, except when he plays against the C's of course...

Who knows? Maybe Danny signs him for the minimum in...2011? He loves lost causes

Did he do anything that would JUSTIFY "HATING" him?   I doubt it.

Hate is a very strong word.   If you dislike him, then say so.

He never, ever, ever accepted to play under the basket,his shot selection, ball handling to's, ball hogging, excessi9ve 3-pt. shooting, his control over the team, It's amazing. Every team he has played for has got rid of him ASAP. Loved nowhere by any of his coaches, his list of teams played for is still growing.He is a self-loving example of everything correct about a non-team player. He is the essence of me first and team second. He is not even to be pitied, having never even accepted the slight possibility of the frailties to his game and the mediocrity of his play. Tragic Antoine.Poor Antoine. A despicable actor I say, a victim of his own need to be the best, the greatest, he never would listen to any coach. Let's be real here. He had many coaches and not just Pitino. He got along with none of them.  Great! Geeat! He was a terrible player. Don't make me laugh.

The bile in the above reply was - to me - just too depressing a capstone for a fun thread so for no better reason than that I'd like to revisit one of my favorite Walker moments:

The Celtics entered Game 3 of the '02 Eastern Conference finals tied with the Nets. And the Nets led by 26 points in the second half, but were outscored, 41-16, in the final quarter.

The Garden crowd had been booing in the third quarter, but ended up cheering on the Celtics in a chaotic final quarter. At the time, the Celtics said they were motivated by an inspirational speech from Antoine Walker.

"Walker said no matter what happens in this fourth quarter, win or lose, we're just going to go down fighting," Pierce said after that game. "We're not going to get embarrassed tonight."

Pierce had been in a shooting slump, connecting on 5 of 34 shots in the series, then scored 19 points in the final quarter.

"Antoine was so positive in timeouts," former Celtics coach Jim O'Brien said. "He was saying to Paul, 'You just take over this [dang] game. You just start carrying us. Attack, attack, attack.'"

You may be right. His self-loving style did net him something that many NBA players would love to have: a championship ring.

I loved toines intensity - never dug his game much - but I don't blame him for that completely...

He came into the league on a horrible team with no coaching and no veteran leadership.  The front office made his head the size it turned out to be - they should have brought in vetran gaurds that could handle the ball distrubute and score.

To this day nobody has been ab;e to consistently feed the ball to Pierce in the post.  Toines high-low passing to peirce translated into many easy buckets...  Maybe thats what I miss most - good tonie, with desire and emotion flowing through his veins...
