i posed this question to my friend early today on whether or not manny will get cheered in his first ab against the sox. he brought 2 WS rings and was the mvp of the first one and was usually very consistant when he played, but on the other hand the way he left boston was awful and it seemed every yr he demanded a trade. so jw whether or not u think he'll get cheered, possibly in the WS in its sox-dodgers

I think, due to the way he left, he would be mostly booed.  I think the wounds are too fresh for many fans, and now he is the "enemy".  Some fans would give polite applause, and you would see some pro-Manny signs, but I think mostly, the reaction would be negative.

I think Nomar and Lowe would be cheered, though.

If it's this year in the World Series, I say he gets booed. If it is next year and he's with the Dodgers or any other team and the Red Sox win the World Series this fall, he probably gets cheered.

thats what i was thinkin too, as long as we win theres no need to boo, and hell if bay plays well, even more reason to cheer

Other than the Yankees.  If he signs with the Yankees, he's getting booed, no matter what.

Mixed reaction, mostly boos.

I saw a decent amount of Dodger hats around Fenway this year, mostly from the younger crowd.

The WEEI Big Show lemmings will all boo.

If he signs with the Yankees, you'll see anti-Manny t-shirts being sold in Boston within 4 hours.

against anybody else i = cheer(the trade benefitted everyone)

against us = boo ( but i boo everyone)

i have a feeling though after 3 years i will be booing him alot because he will be what like 37 or 38 and his career can be only extended via DH and there is No secret manny always wanted to play for the yanks(though nothing will be as bad as johnny damon who just signed right after he left the sox)
