I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this...

"The Wizards immediately swapped the pick to Boston for a nice, six-figure check without giving it much thought."

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/wizardsinsider/2008/10/walker_never_thought_hed_be_a.html

The Celtics got this guy for less than 1 million dollars?!?!

He's talented, strong, mature, and will be 21 this month.

If he becomes a rotation player...good deal.

If he becomes a starter...great deal.

If he becomes a first or second option...WOW!

If he becomes what I think he can...the biggest heist ever!!!

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i think his biggest heist ever was putting away his baseball glove and trading it in for a basketball... ;)

They didn't even get a pick out of it?  Another no risk high reward by the Brain Doctor.

Why does is seem that Chris Wallace is always quoted as some great eye for talent?  Go away already. I would prefer to never read his name associated with anything related the Celtics ever again.  He's like the cold that just won't go away.

I'll be happy if this guy just provides a spark off the bench this season.

It will be a great deal by mid-season already.

Danny's swap for Rajon is his best "proven" swap so far

I have to second michael's opinion. Cash for Rondo, who as early as late this year or early next season could be a top 5 PG in this league, has to be a much larger steal.

I do have to say though that I watched a couple of KState games this year and came away more impressed with Walker in those games than I did with Beasley, so only time will tell. I am expecting big things from this kid in years to come.

What if Darius Miles comes thru? Danny just has a great eye for talent. He cuts through the superficial garbage (bad attitude, bad work ethic, etc.), determines if true and if there are reasons behind it being true he'll get into that. Another thing about Danny is that he is honest with people. I still think that what finally got KG here was when Danny got permission to speak to him one on one. Also, Danny's not afraid to take risks. If they don't pay off he'll take the heat. If it does he won't take the credit for it.

Well, they gave up a first rounder for Rondo...but I still agree.

I thought they gave up the first rounder to Portland, which is how Portland got Roy, for Bassy and then bought the Rondo pick from the Suns.

That was my take on it too. I guess I was wrong. Oh well. Still a steal as Phoenix probably just sold that pick anyway considering that's what they do with draft picks.

They traded their pick (which ended up being Roy) to Portland along with Raef for Ratliff and Telfair.  Then when they saw Rondo was dropping they traded the future first rounder that they had gotten from the Cavs (in the Jiri Welsch deal) to the Suns for Rondo and Brian Grant's rotting corpse.

Of course that pick ended up being Rudy Fernandez who was sold to Portland for Cash.  Imagine if the Suns had Rondo, Deng, and Rudy Fernandez on their roster now (I am sure I am forgetting other picks they gave up as well).

Still, Jiri Welsch for Rondo, which it basically comes down to, is a steal and a half.

Absolutely, I was a proponent of picking Rondo in the top 10 at the time, so anytime you can trade a late first rounder for someone who should be a high first rounder, its a hell of a deal.

Yeah a first round pick for what was clearly an awful player, that was a steal.  What was CLE thinking?

Bill Walker could beat that steal but the jury is still out.

I watched the 1st round KState game of the NCAA tourney last year and Bill was the best player on the court, not Beasley.
