I visit this site probably 10 times per day, and cannot remember the last time this guy was talked about. I recall just a week or so ago where Doc got his contract, but I don't remember reading about Tom's. This guy is the defensive "brains" of our team which, in my opinion should recieve a million TP's for his input in last year's team. So my question is...was he at media day? Is he still with the team?...is not, THEN WHY!?

GOD BLESS SHORT OFF-SEASONS!!!

yes, he is still with the team to my knowledge. danny said early on he was working to bring all the assitance coaches back, and since tom hasen't bolted to take another job, I assume a deal was reached.

The team doesn't have to disclouse the terms or even when they reach contracts with assitant coaches.

If he was avalable, another team would ahve snagged him to be thier Defensive assistant, belive me.

You wanna know why we haven't heard a thing about Thibodeau and Cliffrod Ray?

Cause we have a lousy Boston media covering this team (with a few notable exceptions).

Thibodeau and Ray are very, very important to this team, and Marc Spears, Steve Bulpett, etc haven't asked Danny about them.

 ???

Doc didn't want his contract broadcasted, but it got out. I don't think the assistants care whether or not we know about their signings. If an assistant wasn't, or didn't sign, we would know about it. I've seen pictures of Thibodeau and Armond Hill in practice and we know Clifford Ray has been working alot this summer.

Yes, he signed a new contract, check the coaching team in Celtics.com. Still Boston Celtics Associate Head Coach (and not, like many times is said, Assistant Defensive Coach). And this is not a Assistant Regional Manager/Assistant to the Regional Manager distinction, he actually gets paid a lot more than the regular NBA assistant defensive coach (source somewhere in the web, can't recall where I read it).

You're right. In fact, Associate Head Coach is a higher step up from an Assistant Coach of any kind, both in role and pay, at all levels of basketball coaching.  Several top D1 programs have Associate Head Coaches, but many only have assistants.  It usually goes to someone who could easily be a Head Coach elsewhere, but for whatever reason, program loyalty, end of career so not looking to advance, etc. they chose to stay with their current team. It is a reflection of the Celts understanding of Thibs true value, he is/does more than any assistant.
