If we tolerate these ridiculous start times (to me 10pm may as well be 3am) then they won't stop until California can watch them starting in prime time. It has to be clear to all sports leagues that gaining CA viewers will lose them East Coasters. I am THIS close to giving hockey a chance. MLB is already behind College football, NFL, and NBA. I can move leagues further down the list if they screw their fans. It makes me less likely to buy their stuff too. Please join my boycott. A curse on MLB. A curse on their house.

it is what it is, its fine with me. I mean it sucks to be sure, but these games are starting at a reasonable time out west, 7PM.

why are we any better than them and thus get to dictate that their teams, who earned the right to play at home, have to start their games at 5:30, a time when alot of people are still at work?

I feel you on the games being that late being a pain, but i can't get behind some kind of idea that the east coast is "better" than the west coast and thus the western teams have to screw their fans to accommodate us.

The West Coast has the right for some 7 PM games too.  Imagine if all of the Sox games started while we were all at work or school?  We'd be upset about that too.  The playoffs don't last long, we can make some sacrifices.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Anaheim is in the pacific time zone.  These people have 9-5 jobs too.  I don't really have a problem with it.  They're part of this series too.  It's not real convenient for us East Coasters but I learn to cope with it.  Also, the game time is most likely dictated by TBS.  Its the final game in a tripleheader day.  They want to stagger the games and its only natural that the game involving a West Coast team is going to get late billing.

And i'm not boycotting any games that have the Red Sox playing.

On the bright side it's not a Sox-Yankees matchup so the games will probably be decided in less than 4 hours.  So, by 2 AM we'll have a winner!
Yup

If the games started here at 5:30 I'd love it. I'd get to listen to some of it on the radio on the way home or it would be starting right as I get home. You could watch it during dinner and when it finished it would still be prime time and I could watch a show and get to go to bed knowing who the winner was. How does starting games at 5ish PST hurt the west coast? It's as simple as this. They get to watch all the games and we don't. I don't know what we did to become baseball's second class citizens but it happened. So i will support leagues whose games I actually get to watch. If they can get away with this the next thing that will happen will be 10pm Super Bowls. And then 11pm Super Bowls. If they can get the Hawaii audience by screwing us and we all watch anyway they'll do that too. And then maybe it'll be "But Hawaiians are people too." No they aren't. No they aren't I say.

Super Bowls are on Sunday, they'll always start around 6:30.  I don't know what leagues you're going to be supporting, not the NBA, not the MLB, not the NFL during the regular season with Sunday and Monday Night games.  I don't think we're really second rate citizens, it's just spreading the games around.  I think we can make a few sacrifices during the playoffs.

again, im glad it would work out for YOU, but that doesn't give you the right to arbitrary decided that California has to lose their 7pm games, which have been the traditional start times of baseball games since i can remember,  which are super covenant, to appease you on a personal level.

right now, i get off work at 5PM. i have things to do after work, im not ussaly in the house until 6:30ish, so the 7 oclock starts are great. why, if i lived out west, should i be expected to miss an hour and a half of the game for your personal satisfaction? not everyone works the same hours, my roomate doesn't get home till 7 ish, it would be even worse for him.

Personally, it would benefit my viewing schedule  greatly this year if no NFL games started before 4PM, since i have a little brother in pop warner and he plays 1:30-3:30, but that doesn't mean i'm going to get all uppity and demand that all Football games start at 4PM or i'll do some kind of boycott because I'm inconvenienced. plenty of people, (including me when pop warner isn't going on) love the one oclocks.

It's incredibly self centered, and down right Anti-butu (new word alert  :D) to put yourself on some kind of pedistal and demand the world change for your personal satisfaction.

I think the angst over a west coast playoff game starting at 10 PM on the east coast is a bit misplaced. LA has earned the right to a home field advantage and having a full house to start the game.

Now, the 8:35PM-8:45PM starts for east coast games pitting two east coast teams against each other in the ALCS, NLCS, and the WS is ****g ridiculous. Why those games couldn't have the first ball being thrown at 7:30PM is beyond me. A vast majority, 8 innings, of the game will still be in prime time east coast and when the game is ending the west coast will have a great lead in audience to whatever they show out there after in prime time.

I don't usually go to bed until 5 or 6am, so I don't really care. Go Sox!

You should be made to live in Europe
as a punishment for this. Then you'd
have to either go very early to bed
or stay up till 3 AM to catch a game  ;)

TP for you Nick as you beat me to the punch here.  Shouldn't the end of the games be in prime time, not the beginning???

I think the issue here is that they will start East Coast home games at 9pm, so I think everyone's thought process on this topic is "Hey, the networks have no problem inconveniencing us, so why can't they inconvenience the West Coast and start a game at 8:30 ET."

I don't have a major issue with a game in Anaheim starting late, but they need to balance that by starting the games in Boston at a reasonable time as well.

And on the weekend all bets are off.  Bring back weekend day games in Boston, yeah I am talking to you, NBA Playoffs!!!

well, thats a diffrent issue, and a cause i can get behind. It makes zero sense to start the ALCS and WS games at a diffrent arbitary time, nor the finals.

The issue here with the 10 oclock games is seprate though. the west coast plays at 7 troughout the season, same as we do, and they shouldn't have to change because we're "better" than them.

The later rounds are stupid though, why change the start times? i bet the west coast is with us here, it screws them out of watching the start of games, since they move them up till 5:30 out there by starting them later here.
