Pierce looks GREAT!!!

EDIT:

or maybe it's a camera thing  :P

I dunno, he said multiple times last year that one of his goals was to stick to ray's condition plan, which he put himself on. If he comes in looking like that, that would be awesome.

rondo looks huge!

update from boston.com, its not the camera making him look jacked. seems the kid's been working in the offseason

Rajon Rondo is bigger.

"I've gained 7 pounds," Rondo beams. "I guess you have to win a championship to gain weight."

The spindly point guard has added muscle, but he's also added confidence over the short summer.

"I want to be the best point guard in the league one day," said Rondo. "My coaching staff believes in me. The Big Three believes in me, and the rest of the team believes in me. I'm going to keep working hard regardless of how much I've accomplished so far."

He's definitely been working. Veteran Celtics players had to tell Rondo to stop coming in for two-a-days. So he shortened his daily workout to one, 5-hour session.

"A lot of people think we lost our hunger, but I want the same exact result as last season, and another short summer," said Rondo.

Rondo said he isn't sure if the questions about deficincies in his game will stop now that he's won a championship.

"Maybe, maybe not," said Rondo. "Even though I won a championship, there's still going to be some critics out there."

However, unlike last season, Rondo doesn't seem to worried about his detractors.

"We're going to make another trip to the White House next year, hopefully."

good to see, i don't want him turning into the hulk, but to qoute doc "he needs to put a little meat on if he's going to be taking that kind of beating every game"

sounds like rajon heard him loud and clear  :D

Pre-2007:

Pre-2008:

The difference, my friends, is the weight of expectation. Last year, almost everything was gravy. This year, anything less than another trip to the Finals will be considered a failure (in the eyes of the general public). I'm very optimistic about this year, but it ain't going to be the joy-ride we experienced last year. Buckle up...

or, for all we know, one picture was after a funny question last year and this one was after the question about ray's kid's health and it was sort of somber in the room.

i mean, you may be right, but this is kind of a ridiculous thing to base that statement on isn't it hoops?

i mean, i have pictures of myself at parties where in one i look like its the greatest thing ever and in another i look bored. it doesn't mean i was ecstatic at one and bored at the time in the other, it means i wasn't grinning ear to ear in the second pic, you know?  ;)

Ok, I was making something out of nothing with those pictures. Obviously, there are plenty of contextual explanations for the the isolated snapshots in time. And honestly, overall, I'm excited and I'm sure they're excited.

But when I first saw that somber picture on the front page of CB, it struck me as curious that THAT particular picture would be used to hype the team. I mean, that picture, in and of itself, didn't make me think that everything was exciting and happy. And that thought led to the other - the idea that last year really was a care-free, no pressure year for the C's. This year, like it or not, there are expectations. With expectations comes pressure. I'm confident that our boys can handle the pressure, but it does make your work a little harder when you've got a target on your back.

Anyhow, my apologies for the seemingly pessimistic/alarmist tone in my previous post. The other pictures posted since then have me much more excited!!!

Was worried about Pierce and BBD coming in over weight. Peirce and BBD both look to be in good shape any pics of BBD to attest to this. All I saw was the Golf pic. Rondo Pic is scary - that kid has always been muscular, hope it helps him finish better and does not get in the way - never impressed by Bball players with huge biceps (unless you are dwight howard).

well, i assume if he gained seven pounds of muscle, the Celtics training staff probley worked with him to add it everywhere over his body. its not like you can see anything but his biceps in that picture, and all it realy shows is that he's pretty cut now. The one knock i had on him last year, from a conditioning standpoint, was i always thought he could tone up a bit.

also, lets be honest, he needs some muscle mass. He's too small to take the beatings he does night in and night out without some muscle.

I mean, ray allen is ridiculously jacked for his body type, if you ever see him out of uniform,  but it hasn't hurt his flexibility at all, and i belive is what made him the most durable guy on the team minutes wise. wheather it was wise for doc to take advantage of that all season is another matter, but ray's body held up so well to 38 minutes a night at age 32 because of his muscle tone and conditioning program.

considering that from alot of reports, rondo sees ray as  mentor for his overall offensive game and health (see jakie's awesome article) Rondo will be fine. the Celtics training staff aren't going to let him build in only one area and end up looking like gabe "popeye arms" kapler.

Rondo looks like a man now, a man ready to lead that offense.  His arms are bent so obviously his biceps are going to look even bigger than they probably are, even though I'm sure he's pretty cut.  I highly doubt it will affect him negatively, he obviously worked on his legs too so I'm sure we won't see much of a difference.

Other than Rondo, Pierce looks like Pierce, KG looks like KG, and Ray looks like Ray.  Can't for the 28th.
Who said the East was the JV conference? See you next year, Mr. Bryant!

rondo looks huge!

 :o

That´s great news, let´s hope it gives him the confidence to continue to attack the rim even if he gets blocked at the first attempt.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
