Pre-2007:

Pre-2008:

The difference, my friends, is the weight of expectation. Last year, almost everything was gravy. This year, anything less than another trip to the Finals will be considered a failure (in the eyes of the general public). I'm very optimistic about this year, but it ain't going to be the joy-ride we experienced last year. Buckle up...

Are you sure that the pre 2008 pic is recent? Plus, the pre 2007 one is at the press conference after the Garnett signing, nothing to do with a routinary Celtics press conference after training...

In any case, someone posted the vids of the press conference today and they look focused and happy. No need to alarm.

or, for all we know, one picture was after a funny question last year and this one was after the question about ray's kid's health and it was sort of somber in the room.

i mean, you may be right, but this is kind of a ridiculous thing to base that statement on isn't it hoops?

i mean, i have pictures of myself at parties where in one i look like its the greatest thing ever and in another i look bored. it doesn't mean i was ecstatic at one and bored at the time in the other, it means i wasn't grinning ear to ear in the second pic, you know?  ;)

Andrew Bynum looks huge, he is jacked.  He also looks like he is an inch or two taller than Gasol.

he does seem more jacked. that may be a trick of the photo, but he did mention that one of his goals this off season was going to be to put on some muscle to try to maintain his durability, since he gets hacked alot with his aggressiveness.

  • Let's Go Celtics
Today is a microcosm of what this season is going to be.  There was so much hype, so much excitement.  There were a lot more pictures, and blog entries, and interviews.  The hype last year is understandable, but it's also going to be tough to recapture the moment and repeat the title.

If Ray and Garnett weren't on this team I would be more concerned about this concept.  However I don't see them letting anyone on this team slack at any moment for the next nine months.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."
