I noticed a quote from KG in an interview by Boston Globe's Marc Spears that is on the front page today that really had me smiling.

"We've been in the rotation [working out] for two weeks now," Garnett said. "Rajon Rondo got all the guys up [to Waltham] the 5th of September. He called up some of the young guys. Big Baby [Glen Davis] has been in Boston the whole summer. We've been together for about 2 1/2 weeks now, coming in, working out.
"We're back to talking trash. Back to jokes in the locker room."

Rondo's growing up. He's never been shy or bashful, but he is beginning to take on a leadership role. It is extremely important that the PG of a team also is a leader and we have that to look forward to in RR. Good to hear he has accepted his role of being a vocal part of this team. This will only be his third year. He's seen the worse in his first year and the best in his second. Fact is, this can be HIS team in a few years and now is the time for him to begin establishing that. Kudos to him for stepping up and getting the guys back on track for #18!

What are you talking about?

Good to see the young PG step up and take more of a leadership role.

ok, number one, was that really nessacary?

number two, way to miss the point. its a good thing that he's callign them and gettign them back to camp. we want him to be in their ears about working hard. right now, he has some great leaders around him, but at some point in the future, three or four years down the road,  rajon is going to hopefully be the  leader of a new group of players.

He showed good leadership last year, and it's good to hear this brought up.

The only reason KG would bring this up is if he was impressed by rondo's initutive.

EDIT you fooled me with the avatar and the good info Main, though you were FL hehe. TP regardless!  :D

You're just a hater.   ::) ::)

Whether we like it or not Rondo IS the future of this team.  This is exactly what he needs to be doing.

Who pooped in your cereal?

I think it shows Rondo with some initiative, especially on a team full of vets to organize an early camp.

I think a couple of things to take from this that are very encouraging is that Rondo told/asked these guys to get here early and get a jump start on training camp and they actually did. It shows just where he is perceived in the hierarchy of this team. Second, I love the fact that it was reported that Davis has been in Waltham all summer. My guess is if it is true and his eating habits have changed we could see a very different BBD and considering I liked what I saw last year, that's a real good thing.

As an aside, bad form JR Giddens, every thread is a good thread and valid. No need to be so nasty.

LOL I agree with the 2nd part. Rondo is the future. He will step up because of expereince he gained this past year. But calling teammates on the phone doesn't say anything about being a leader on the floor. He has hasn't proved it yet.

He didn't call them on the phone to ask them about their summer...he, according to KG, got them to go to work sooner then required.  i.e. leadership...

[EDITED]

No need for that last part.

I'm going to completely disregard that hater post...

The emergence of Rajon Rondo is one of the most exciting stories in New England sports, at least as far as I'm concerned.

He played his ass off in the finals, and showed us a lot for a young point guard.

A good, TRUE point guard is absolutely priceless.

Considering he's going to grow even more into the position, Rondo is one of the main reasons I'm not concerned about this team falling off as the big three get older.

The off the court stuff is just icing on the cake.

Some people are just never satisfied. Period. You can state a point till you're blue in the face. Fact is, everyone here seems to think this is a good thing, as I'm sure his team mates did as well or else they wouldn't have showed up phone call or not. There are negative posters on every board, regardless of the sport,news...topic period. Mr. Giddens's response to my initial post on this subject was definitely uncalled for, but he felt it was worthy so for him it was necessary...however useless it was.
