Wade gave an interview to a Greek sports newspaper. He answers question about the Team USA, Euro bbal, his off court lifestyle, Greek players, Childress, God ....

A couple of interesting points :

Q Do youthink you could play in the Greek league ?

DW Everything is possible. There were many rumours during the summer about Lebron and Kobe going to Europe. In the next two years and for the right offer there is a great chance of coming to play in you country.

Regarding the gold olympic medal :
"To put it simple i would have stopped playing the for the national team if we hadn`t win the gold. I may even end my carrier. We were obligated to shop that we are still the best team in the world with the best players. We knew we were the favourites on paper to win but we have to show it in the court. From no on no redeem team. The next team USA write it`s own history and won`t have to aim for redemption as we had to do this summer."

with this the third big name to sprout off about foreign money, is there any doubt the players union is giving these guys marching orders to put pressure on the NBA to reconsider the contract cap and salary cap?

Personality, i think thats whats going on.

For all the stars trying to get leverage by boasting that they'd be willing to play in another country for a year if they were payed 50 million dollars:

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!! So long, have fun.

Awe, is 20-25 million a year not enough? Awe..... Awe....  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

...so sad.

Yeah, it's hard to feel sorry for guys making more money in one year than most of us will make in our lives. That said, I'd probably take the money too if it were offered overseas. Sure - money isn't everything. But neither is the NBA - it's just a game, not all that important in the grand scheme of things.

It goes both ways. If MLS would offer soccer players tons of cash to play in the states, many of the top players in Europe would think about coming over.

It's all about the cash.

Hey if they can make double overseas, more power to them. But the agent/union driven posturing is really annoying.

One more thought. Sorry this is a hot button topic for me.

Lets say this handful of superstars got their way and could be paid say $40 million per year. That sort of salary structure would wreck that team's ability to build around them. The lower and middle class players would get the short end of the stick.

The players get somewhere between 56-60% of the NBA's $. That is fair and plenty. The coaches, management, marketing, accountants, etc. need to eat too.  :P

I think crownsy meant to say "personally," not "personality."  ;)

what if the nba lost lebron, wade, and kobe for a year? that'd be a great year for the celtics.

imo, a true star nba player only plays overseas for greed. therefore, any all-star that does this is an all-star i do not like.

Become Legendary.

Wilkins did it, McDaniel did it, Byron Scott did it. But when they didn`t have anything left in the tank for the NBA level of play. In many cases it`s not greed but the will to play more and try something else. But if a 26 years old top 10 players moves to Europe then i`m 100% with you.
I  can`t see it happening though.

Beckham is overrated.
He's got a good freekick
and some precise passes
and then his looks going
for him.
Besides, he's a Lakers fan  ;)
