"This was by far my favorite this morning, as it provides exactly what both the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves need. On the Lakers side it gives them a true small forward in Mike Miller who shoots lights-out and will even defend a little, as compared to Vladimir Radmanovic. Jason Collins is a solid defender, though he won't score at all, and would give LA the back-up they need for Andrew Bynum. On the Timberwolves side it's all about cap space. It would be unfortunate for Odom to have to spend a season losing night in and night out after being in the Finals last year, but you know what they say . . .basketball is a business."

I guess it's a win win for both teams. Odom is more talented then Miller, but Miller will probably fit better. The Lakers will miss Odom's play making at the 4 though.

I think I like it more for the Grizzly.

As for the LAL/MIN trade, I like it for LA as I genuinely don't rate Odom.

For the Lakers it makes sense

Miller shooting ability creates more space for Kobe, Gasol and Bynum. and this cuts there payroll down 7 million for next season.

This trade is interesting if it happens, for both teams too, I don't see either teams being really benefitted in their play (except wolves for the cap space but that's not what I want to talk about in trades), this is sort of a 'desperation' trade where the GM trades for the sake of trading but not exactly improving the team and put them over the top. Why? I like the Collins part, but the Mike Miller part? I love this player, but does the Fakers really need their 10th 3 point shooter for this season? And while Odom has been inconsistant, I still think he is a better fit than Miller, I'm actually not convinced if Miller plays more defence than Odom, but Odom at least provides more length, athleticism and skills. The only thing MIller is better than Odom is his scoring ability.

I've heard slight rumors that the Lakers would look for a more conventional 3 to replace Odom this off season...

They also need to "show Bynum the money" come next summer. This would allow them to allocate 7 million dollars of freed up money toward that. You can't rule out Salary Cap implications in trades these days my friend.

I think Odom is going to very ineffective next to Bynum and Gasol, so I think this trade really makes sense for the Lakers. For the Twolves, they'd be clearing a bit of cap space, although I really think a young team like that needs veterans to learn from (and Mike Miller is a better influence than Lamar Odom).

Luckily, I don't think Hoopsworld is the slightest bit reliable, so I doubt this has legs.

But unless they have a home run deal they have to stay patient, go into the season and try it out. This is nowhere close to being that deal.

As for the rumour .... Wolves wouldn't make this trade. Lakers wouldn't make this trade. This whole rumour is a pile of garbage.

The Lakers have too many small forwards with Radman, Walton, Ariza, and now Odom playing that position.  I could see a trade happening but not sure about this one though.

I disagree. I think the Wolves would make this deal if not only to clear out 22 Million (Howard coming off the books as well.)

It's strange, I think the trade makes LA a more balanced team, but I think it makes them weaker, Odom, when playing hard is extremely effective.
