...and Perkins over Bynum. I'm sorry, but can the LA hype machine please stop and can people in the media start looking at that team without the purple and gold glasses on. Bynum, after 3 years, has proven nothing more than that he's good at getting hurt.

Forgetting the issue of the list for a second, a quick point about Perkins and Bynum: If Mitch Kupchak calls Danny tomorrow and offers Bynum straight up for Perk, how does Danny answer?

I can't imagine it's anything other than either an emphatic "Yes!" or perhaps a "You're just messin' with me, right?"

Very true Steve, but you edited out the part of my post that is most important. I said, "right now". Right now, considering Bynum still has not proven that he can come back adequately from his injury, I would want Perk. Danny would make that trade but a lot of the decision in making that trade would be the speculation that Bynum will eventually be a better player than Perk.

But that is speculation and right now, I would take Perk over Bynum. If Bynum comes back, remains healthy and his performance only reaches to 80% of the predicted expectations, he would be much better than Perk and I would take him then. But until he does that, Perk would be my man.

before he went down with the injury last year, Bynum was looking [dang] good. This kid's raw skills and size are really, really strong. If his knee is close to where it was, he is easily a top 10 center in the NBA.

I expect the Lakers to have trouble getting their packed front court's chemistry down, especially on defense. But as an individual talent, i think very highly of Bynum.

Bynum's high ranking speaks more to how thin the NBA is at the center position. There aren't many true centers in the league who can play at an all star level.

Bah, I owe you an apology, Nick - I should have been more careful in the edit so it didn't come across as though I was trying to skew your words, which certainly wasn't my intention.  My bad on that. 

That said, if you offered me either player right now, I'd take Bynum and gamble on his health - because the possible reward is high enough to merit it in my book.  I'm working on a Babble for later in the week on the subject of Bynum, but long story short, the guy was highly effective when on the floor last season, and his progress curve should still be moving upwards.  If he's on the floor, I'd want him.

Where is big Al Jefferson on this list?  Didn't he play center last year for the Wolves although maybe slightly out of position?  If they are going to list Wallace as a center then they should certainly do so with Jefferson.   Check out ESPN.com they have Wallace listed as a PF and Jefferson as a center.  I agree if anything Al is more of a center than Wallace.
