  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Ouch, obviously disappointed by my own showing, 4th in the Southwest. I knew I had two detractors in Houston and Portland, but I didn't guess how widely dismissed my team was. I still stand by my original prediction that each of my starters is going to play well above his draft position... I guess I'm just well ahead of the curve ;)

But I'm also surprised by:

1st: Mavericks Average Position: 2.13
2nd: Rockets Average Position: 2.76

Rockets win the preseason poll handily only to finish solidly in second this time. Not sure what happened here? Anyway, I'm looking forward to Edgar's reaction...

2nd: Utah Average Position: 2.84
3rd: Minnesota Average Position: 2.95

And, am I first to mention what appears to be the second biggest shift here - Minnesota came in second to Portland for 1st place votes the last time around, but this poll shows Timberwolves might be a love them or hate them squad?

Anyway, for the record count me among those that hardly believe OKC is the worst team in the Western Conference... oh, and I love Redz's draft chart. (TP)

I can answer that

I actually liked Utah as much as Roy's team, and had minnesota lower. But in those polls you could only vote for one team. In the recent poll you could rate teams, so I imagine there were quite a few people who thought like I did that Utah was the second best team in the conference. For the record, I could easily see them taking Roy's in a playoff.

How do we decide on teams built to win over a long period? Have I missed something or are we ignoring that now? Thanks.

Anyone?

We will do a poll about that afterwards.  Not sure the format yet.

Thanks wdleehi. Or should I say Wide Load? Is this a permanent thing?

Yeah, switching your nom de guerre now that it's football season?

Give me a couple of days.  I am sure I can come up with a clever reason.

So there was a pre-season poll and now this was real poll that I wasn't aware of or able to vote for because I've been tied up at work?  No way... you can't just make stuff up as you go along.

It wasn't even close... Houston is the Southwest Champs.

I know wdleehi clarified that point several times.  Here's one of them, from the Pacific Division thread:

wait so does the poll decide who won the division or do we do that later?

No.  This lets you know where you are right now.  I will post new polls after the 2nd trade window.  GMs can use this as a guide to decide if they need to make a move if they want to win now.  (if there really is ever a winner and a loser)

Consult this thread, where the format for the post-draft presentations and polls was posted weeks ago:

Well I don't have time to check every thread on here. I asked the question in

"Celticsblog Mock GM Press Conferences: Southwest Division."

and from edgars response I assumed it was over.

I didn't even vote in this final round...

OH I see... Edgar talked about his TP giving abilities... that's what killed me. OK .... >:(

How else could I go from 50% of the division to losing? This is crazy.

I don't really buy the conspiracy theories going around although this was definitely a subjective poll.

People are going to have varying opinions of others and tend to be over-protective of their own team.  That's natural.

Although there really isn't an objective to come up with winners, I thought this was a pretty decent attmempt at it and, to be honest, don't see much major controversy here.

With that said, the rumor is that the Eastern GMs are much less prone to controversey.  ;)

The other thing is that in the press conference threads, people had a chance to argue a case for their teams. In the poll, voters are just looking at teams on paper.
