I just got an email about an upcoming charity event for the Animal Rescue League of Boston at the Harborlights Pavillion on 9/18 and one of the items that's being auctioned off caught my eye:

Ultimate Sports Fans Dream Dinner – Enjoy dinner with Doc Rivers, Head Coach of the World Champion Boston Celtics, Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe and Jackie MacMullan of ESPN at Abe & Louie’s in Boston.  You and one guest will enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

That would be a heck of a dinner for most of us!  The Head Coach of the Celtics plus two of the best sportswriters to cover the Green in 30 years.

What would you ask?  Where would you begin the conversation?  Do you think these guys would be completely forthright?  What would you eat? (ok, I'm kidding about this one)

BTW:  I have no affiliation w/ the event, I just think the prize is really unique and interesting to this site.  (there's also Celtics tickets being auctioned off as well)

I honestly would like to have dinner with just doc, nvm the sports writers.  It doesn't sound all that fun.

C'mon, SSF...don't tell me you're kidding about the one I can answer best: I'm eatin' everything on the table!  ;)

I'd ask Doc about what we need to see Leon do that will prevent him from getting yanked from games defensively and what sort of work the coaching staff will be putting in with Powe to make that happen.  On another note, what is the Eddie House experience like on a day-to-day basis?

...and for Bob and Jackie....just how bad was it to be covering this team up close when the Ricktator was here?

And many, many more...wow, I've got to think about this one for a while and return, great question, SSF...

Steve, I've attached the link for the menus to help you out!!!

If I won, I might invite Jeff and let him ask the questions and sit back and watch.  I do think there'd be a lot of honest and open chatter, all three appear amazingly engaging.  Still working on specifics regarding the questions, but without a doubt I am going with the Crispy Lemon Chicken with a baked potato and a couple of Harpoons.

"Ummm...Bob, you got some food in your mustache."

"Doc, you're my hero."

"Jackie please pass the pepper."

"Waitress, another round of scotch and milk for me and my pals please."
