I said it already.  People on this board scoff at Patrick O'Bryant right now, but wait until some random blowout mid-season when O'Bryant gets 10 minutes of garbage time and pulls down 8 rebounds... someone will start an 8 page thread about he's the next *insert former legendary center here*.   My money is on Patrick Ewing...

then it'll degenerate into he's the next Mark Blount...which for this kid, sadly would still be a compliment

but the best thing about this offseason is relishing in the fact we won green 17, and we're prepping for Green Cowens..... or Green Dieciocho

I went ahead and voted for Darius just because he's the only player we've picked up since Sam that has done anything in the league, and it was at little cost.  I sorta got a queasy feeling in my stomach when I heard he was signed, but what bad could really come out of it, I guess is the mindset I'm in now.

I would have voted for Perk/Rondo or for Leon, but those aren't exactly offseason events.

Really, none of the options I had to choose form had me stoked.  And I don't see what's so offensive about Scot Pollard riding the pine for a little while.  Here's stuff that got me excited since the last game:

Ray Allen bringing the trophy to the wedding (for the comedy)
Shaq's text message (again, comedy)
Team USA
The fact that Team USA luckily contained no Celtics, allowing them to rest up a bit more.
The whole Spanish team fiasco..  And beating them
The OKC logos that didn't get selected that are much better than what they got.
Any appearance of Tom Heinsohn on television.
Or simply watching this video a lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjU3nvru9wA
Hearing relatively good things about Giddens, here and there.
Nearly every update on Basketbawful

I'd call all of those things a little better than the options provided.
(but resigning Eddie was cool too)

by putting "don't click this" it makes it psychologically more likely people will click it - the curiousity motive is funny - don't press that red button!

I went with Rondo and Perk, specifically with Rondo. Although he was a little inconsistent (understandable since it was his first playoffs) I think his game took a leap during the playoffs. If we get play like that on a regular basis we'll be in good shape in 2009.

I hope you guys don't get too disappointed when Darius doesn't make the roster coming out of training camp. ;)

I'm Intrigued about the Rookies.  I see a lot more athleticism being added to a roster which I thought was a complaint of some around here last year.  Posey's offense was relegated to a 3 pt shot.  It's strange that you don't hear that complaint too much anymore of course that sort of goes in line with the line of thinking whatever you don't have is the most important thing that permeates most New England area fans.

Couldn't care less about Miles  He might surprise more than likely he won't.  I do like the screw job on Portland.

I couldn't help not clicking Darius Miles, for two reasons. For one, it's low rick high reward, If he's good he'll help if he's not, not problem. We have on a bunch of IF's and MAYBE's with the other rookies we just signed. With Miles we can only assume, that if he gets signed out of training camp, that's he's healthy and ready to "do work". And the second reason is, because you told me not to  ;D.

So far though, I'm not too disappointed with this off-season. We really didn't loose to much. Are starting line up is still intact, key bench players are still here (except off course Posey), and are secondary overall is the only thing that raises questions, for me at least.

The choice is obviously Eddie House. Can't click a choice, though, because I don't like the Allen signing.

The two rookies might work out. But both have significant warts, so it's premature to call either one of the them the best part of the off-season.

As for Miles, I don't expect him to last on the roster so he's out.

1.) That no one got seriously hurt during the off season ala Monta Ellis or Manu Ginobelli.

2.) It was a whole lot shorter than any of our other more recent off seasons.

3.) That Kobe had to endure the reminder of losing for so much of the off season because he played in the Olympics and was constantly asked which was better, winning a gold medal or winning the NBA championship, you know, back when LA used to win championships.

4.) That before this season even tips off we will be raising an NBA Championship banner.

I'm very happy we drafted Bill Walker, and I like Giddens' physical tools a lot.  For our draft position, I'm psyched to come away with two players of that caliber.

I agree.  Walker was one of the guys I had been hoping to drop to us all of last season, and to be able to pick him up in the second round was great.  I am not as high on Giddens, but I do like what I am hearing, and think he could be a good pickup.

I also am a fan of the Miles signing.  I wouldn't call it anywhere close to the best thing from the offseason, but I thought it was a smart "no risk, high reward" signing.

I know I am in the minority here, but in general I like the fact that Danny did not do the standard "sign mediocre players, who you know will give you a little help" thing, but instead went with the "take a chance with a bunch of younger guys who have potential to help you a lot, or blow up in your face".  At the very least it makes this team more interesting next season, but it also gives them the chance of going from great team to one of the best ever, which I don't know if they could have done by just adding mediocre veterans to fill holes, they needed more talent.
