Some oldies but goodies some of you younger guys may have never seen:
Ben Hur - you want big, old Hollywood epics and Charlton Heston some say The Ten Commandments, but I think this is a much better film.
Midway - excellently done retelling of the Battle of Midway, the turning point in the war versus Japan in WWII.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - New man and Redford at their buddy film best.
The Shootist - John Wayne's last film.
Some Like It Hot - Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in drag escaping mob problems and both fall in love with Marilyn Monroe. For those that always wondered what was so special about Marilyn as a sex symbol, watch this movie.
Miracle on 34th Street - the original with Natalie Woods as the precocious little girl that needs to believe in Santa Claus. My absolute favorite holiday movie and a must in either black and white or the new colorized edition.
Psycho - the original Alfred Hitchcock thriller. Also, The Birds and North by Northwest are also genius Hitchcock stuff as well that I recommend.
Godzilla - the original in black and white with Raymond Burr.
and a not so oldie but one of my all-time favorites:
The Princess Bride - what's not to love, Billy Crystal and Andre the Giant, giant rats, sword fights, love lost and then recaptured, men with seven fingers on one hand, Inigo Montoya(prepare to die), and of course, my favorite line in all of moviedom:
Vizzini: You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
Ah..... Vizzini. The depth of his knowledge was just inconceivable.
