not alot, i would like livingston the most, and then george, think what we are missing need is more ball handling, another 3pt shooter a big 3 that can defend.

Every time I see one of these threads, I think people are talking about the Celticsblog draft.

Yes, I'm obsessed.  :P

Me too, Roy. Even though my team is bad, the other threads don't even exist to me the past two summers because I'm too caught up in the draft.  ;D

From that list, Bonzi Wells is by far both the best player and best fit for what the C's need, which is a good backup to PP.  Bonzi would really make that 2nd unit more of an offensive threat.

If Giddens is ready for the 3 spot they should sign a center because O'Bryant won't be ready by October

PG- Rondo, House, Pruitt
SG- Allen, Allen
SF- Pierce, Giddens, scal
PF- Garnett, Powe, Baby
C- Perk, veteran center, O'Bryant

Bonzi actually ain't that good anymore and he did horrible shooting in the playoffs

If Darius Miles can still play they should sign him because he can slash to the hoop and has guarded against power fowards and centers in the past while he was with the clippers

Right but the problem is there aren't any good big men left. :-\
PJ is probably staying retired this time around.

that's not alll that's left, see my thread with a much bigger list - a lot of those guys are still around - one wing not mentioned here is Quinten Ross - he could fill the defensive stopping wing spot - there's a few bigs who remain unsigned for a reason most likely - Jackie Butler comes to mind...

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i'm guessing that miles will be here for camp...but beyond that, i see nothing else, because in all honesty there's nothing out there.

we're going to miss james posey...

Yea Bonzi is the only guy I'd consider. I don't mind J Dixon but he really duplicates House and House is a better PG.

I think A Mourning is a free expect to be back in Dec. I'd like to see the Celts pick him up, similar to a PJ Brown late season pick up.

Any one know how many roster spots are open?

I think we actually kind of need to get Bonzi. He's actually a better scorer than Poz, and an equal to better rebounder off the bench. I love me some Bill Walker and Giddens, but making two rookies our fulltime backup small forwards would be a bad idea, imo.

The very slow progress in signing Walker may be an indication that Danny privately wants him to play a year or two overseas while retaining his draft rights.  This would allow Danny to sign two vets to complete the bench. Walker could also be a late addition if nothing presents in the free agent market.

S. Livingston is a tempting speculation if not for concerns about the extent of his injuries and his projections for returning to form.  Shawn could be a signing for next year while in rehab and contingent on his recovery while drawing a  vet. salary for this year. If Shawn could return to form he would be a great long term solution for the Celtics.  He has rare talent and could be worth the risk.

While present needs seem to be the top priority one must not overlook our team's future outlook, especially if we can't find quality pieces this year.

Do you mean late in the season?  Because I don't think it works that way unless the Euro club he goes to is REALLY generous.

I think the biggest problem is that Livingston has said that if he comes back he likely won't be able to guard point guards because he doesn't think his knee will hold up.  He's a terrible shooter and if he can't guard points, then how is his lanky frame going to guard players bigger than him or stay in front of them.  From how it looks right now, he's going to be a detriment in every phase of the game, save passing.

I hate to say he can't do it, but it doesn't look good for him.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

By staying at 13-14 signed players through camp, we also have another avenue to add a FA that is not quite as obvious. There will be a number of teams that cut or release players during and after training camp due to redundancy at positions. Most will be on non-guaranteed contracts. Some of these guys will be serviceable and cheap. 8)
