I'm always up early so I turned it on at 6 and watched the first 20 minutes or so before I left.  Paul seemed a little timid at first, but now that I'm listening on the radio he seems more comfortable now.  They just had Wyc on who had 6 championship rings prototypes in front of him, they're trying to pick one out.

yea, i noticed this too. the first time he had to do the throw on "mike and mike (co-host) espn radio" he messed it up pretty bad, but after that he started nailing it.

suprisingly, he really opened up after talkign to peter gammons about baseball, seemed to make him more comfrtable about talking on the air, told a story about how his brotehr was drafted in 1990, and how his first sport in HS was baseball, but he gave it up after his fastball got hittable and he gave up a ton of runs.

said he could still mash the ball though, which i belive heh :)

It's rare to hear Truth in Broadcasting -- even more rare to see it! Pierce did a great job! He's a natural! I especially appreciated his totally lack of rancor at being handcuffed for two hours in Las Vegas for not putting on his right turn signal at 3 in the morning when there were no other cars on the road -- turns out it was because he was driving while Big, and he was evidently profiled because of his size. Imagine my relief.

He first joked that he was pulled over by a Lakers fan for a DWC (Driving with a championship) LOL.

Paul did a great job this morning.  The most notable things for me were the following:

1.  Paul had the whole team to his house after they were able to get out of the Garden after the championship.  Shortly after he got home, he had to go to the hospital with his daughter who had a fever.  He was at the hospital until 7:30 on the morning of the parade and had had no sleep.

2.  He and Coco Crisp went to the same high school. (not really notable, just interesting.)

3.  He addressed his knee injury . . . again.  Same story.

4.  He said he could go to Europe and play after his career was over here.

5.  He expects the US basketball team to win gold in blowout fashion.

6.  He addressed his comment about being the best player in the NBA.  He said it was no diss to Kobe, that when he steps on the court, he just feels like no one is better than he is.  He also said that Lebron is harder to guard than Kobe because of his size and physicality.

7.  Donnie Wahlberg came on and said he always thought Kobe was the best player, but Paul put the Celtics on his shoulders and went out and outplayed the best in the world so for now Paul is the best.

8.  Paul addressed the stabbing incident and said that afterwards in the hospital, he asked the doctors if he would make it and then even when he knew he would live, he was unsure whether he would ever play basketball again. (pretty obvious I suppose).

9.  In addressing the Las Vegas incident, he said he was pulled over by a Laker fan in a DWC (driving while Champion).  He was pulled for not putting on his blinker while there was no one else on the road, so he felt it was more of a random traffic stop to see if he was drinking.  He said he hadn't had any drinks and was handcuffed because of his size.  He had to wait 2 hours for the breathalizer and thought it was "pretty funny" (hmmm).  He also said he won't drink and drive, ever.

10.  He said about the championship that it was a relief and he first thought about his mother, family, little girl and interestingly enough, about being picked number 10 when he thought he should have been number 1.  The next championship will be one of joy instead of relief.

11.  Posey and Cassell, who were the only two to have another championship, said they had never seen anything like the championship in Boston, and Paul said that is what makes Boston fans so special.

12.  Danny Ainge said that European leagues are probably a bigger draw for role players because the NBA pays their stars and role players may be able to get more in Europe.  Also the strength of the Euro is a factor along with the fact that European teams pay the players' taxes.

Funniest moment:  Mike Greenberg had Paul put on his hat and sunglasses (you know, the kind of hat he is always wearing).  Then Mike tried it on and said he felt like he looked like Gilligan (and he really did).

All in all, Paul did a great job.  It was nice to see him again.  Can't wait for the season to start.

not to beat a dead horse, but this pretty much confirms what me and 3 other people posted in the "pauls a drunk and ruined our season RARRRWWW!" thread abotu people being pulled over late night to check if there drunk.

it also confrims that he was handcuffed as standered police procedure, and not because he was being a punk, as the people callign for his head moved on to after more facts came out that confirmed the first part of paul's story.

nice to see a bunch of people crucify him with no cause and then leave the thread never to be seen again without so much as an "yea, i overracted" once actual facts came out  ::).

i only got to hear the first hour, anyone know if its going to be played anywhere again, or just as the screwjob "espn insider" piece? i love paul, im not paying ESPN so i can download a podcast :(

There is a 2 minute video on espn.com with Paul trying on the hat then giving it to Greenberg.  There are podcasts of the best of Mike and Mike.  There isn't one of this morning so far. And I don't know what they include on those or how long they are.

If you go to espn.com and search under Mike and Mike podcast, it will take you to a page where you can listen to the podcast on your computer without being an insider.

There are some things you have to be a "radio insider" to listen to.  The podcasts are free on itunes or on espn.  I just listened to part of one, and I am not an insider.

Its up on itunes now - 28 minutes long  :(

"Celtics' co-owner Wyc Grousbeck, Ray Allen, GM Danny Ainge, Finals MVP/co-host Paul Pierce and Donnie Wahlberg reminisce about the Celtics title."
