our team is near complete.  Danny isn't going after any more projects, the last roster spot will go to a battle tested veteran.

you're making an assumption about Giddens and Walker to say there's a last roster spot - there's really 3 spots open, with 2 guys who we have the rights to, but not sure we'll keep - plus I don't think Gabe Pruitt makes this team...I think when the smoke clears there will be 2 spots open for the taking for free agents

Interesting.  I get the point about Giddens and Walker, but what do you know about Pruitt that is different from what seems to be the consesus here that he made progress last year and is on our depth chart as the third PG.

no insider info or anything, just logically, he's a low level salary guy on a title defending team. Last year he and Big Baby were the guys the c's could kinda hide on the end of the bench and see what they could do when given the opportunity.  At times Baby flourished, Gabe never played a role. Now it'll be Walker's turn to fit that billing (if on board) (and/or perhaps Giddens, though I think he gets a bigger role to start) - Cutting Gabe doesn't kill our cap and allows us to bring in a vet we could use as a defensive swingman or an insurance bigman.  My other 2 insights into this situation are 1) Gabe will be a UFA at the end of the season, so why develop him here and watch him go somewhere else- and 2) I got to see a c's practice before a cleveland game this year and Gabe was clearly lost out there - Doc had to go over things with him again and again (and this was in March) - practice literally stopped for Gabe.. not a good sign and it didn't happen to anyone else - Eddie House killed him in practice when Gabe got a chance to go into the 5 on 5 sets... I'm just not confident about him - Also I called B. Wallace getting cut last year and people said I was crazy - I Also called Powe getting cut and that one umm didn't work out so much

<edit - c's have a team option on Pruitt for 09/10>

Thanks for the explanation.  I have no insight with regard to Pruitt as a player.  If Pruitt has not made enough progress to play at the NBA level, I'd agree but I question whether viewing one practice in March is enough of a sampling with which to go the bank.  Reports (reliable or not -- who knows?) all year seemed to indicate progress and his performance (as referenced occasionally on CBlog) in the NBDL was solid.  You may be correct, but it would be a surprise to me if Pruitt isn't given an opportunity in favor of a 'veteran minimum' PG who will see < 5 per night.  You have to figure that Rondo ups his minutes to 35 per game this year which leaves only 13 remaining PG minutes most of which (maybe all) are House's.  Pruitt seems a wise fit to learn here next year unless injury to RR or EH forces him into minutes he's not yet ready for.

Michelangelo is a, first of all, talented man. But he’s also crazy, because there’s no way I would take six years painting a ceiling that’s at least 30 or 40 feet high in the air. But I guess you do what you’ve got to do, and I just want to commend Michelangelo.- Glen Davis
