and where would he be playing exactly? he can't DH, so your sitting drew or bay, both of whom (albiet with a small sample size for bay) are very productive.
I think you only even consider bringing him is if Papi is out for the year so you can play him at DH.  Nobody is suggesting to bring him in if Papi can continue to play.

even then i wouldnt trust a roid head who hasent hit in 10 months and is presumably clean now. rather promote a minor leaguer or get someone who gets cut.

Chris Carter would be the best candidate. He could probably hit .290 ish, 20 something homers at the major league league level( in a full season ). I'm surprised he didn't get a shot when Ortiz went down in June. Also, he kinda looks like Tom Brady. Much more than Ortiz does.

I'd bring up jeff baily or chris carter. Probably chris carter since baily has had some chances and hasn't done much. Carter also is a infielder which is ortiz second position.

thank god his injury isn't a knee injury, those are the worst. He just needs to rest a bit more

Ortiz simply isn't getting anything to hit.  He's pressing because of it.

I think Francona put Bay low in the batting order so there wouldn't be as much pressure initially.  If he keeps hitting like he is, he'll be  capable protection in the batting order.

Bringing Bonds on is essentially keeping Manny.  Just trading one jerk for another.  We've won 6 of 7 since Bay came on board and Manny was jettisoned..  There's a reason for it.
