No, Pierce is not better than Kobe. Celtics won the title this year because of team spirit and Pierce was just one of the pieces on the roster to make that happen.  Throughou PP´s career he´s showed that he couldn´t take the team on his shoulders when needed like Kobe has done and correctly, he just isnt as good.  However, I like PP´s way of thinking.  He thinks the world of himself and therefore he goes the distance.

Sorry, but I refuse to believe the same old regurgitated stuff about Paul not being able to lead/carry a team. From day one he's put this team on his back and done some amazing stuff to keep the Celtics competitive for so long. We made the playoffs all those years (until the trainwreck in 2006) with Paul Pierce and absolutely nobody. What has Kobe done with a team that was always better (until this year) than ours since Shaq left? Nadda. And taking the team on his shoulders? Game 7 against the Cavs this year? Any of a myriad of games over his career? He has constantly gone above and beyond any reasonable expectations of the Celtics and yet you tout Paul as unable to carry a team compared with the man who can't beat Phoenix in a playoff series.

It turns out those were Shaq's shoulders.

Pierce has proven he can carry a team without a dominant low post center to a championship.  Kobe hasn't.  Pierce has proven he can dig down when things are looking bleak and lead his team back from huge playoff deficits to wins in the Finals.  Kobe hasn't.

To me, Bryant looked sharp at times in the Finals, but he was wildly inconsistent.  He also was a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.bag to his teammates, while Pierce was a beacon of inspiration to his.  Kobe may be a better player overall, but for those two weeks of the Finals, Pierce was the better player.

Now, it's time to sit back and watch Kobe and LeBronze James fall on their overexposed faces in the Olympics.

no ring without KG or Ray - you are right though, Shaq got 3 Finals MVPs while Kobe was there...but I really dont' get where this Kobe doesn't play defense thing comes from, perhaps its just that his offense completely overshadows it, he really does play solid d generally...

my original point though was that PP didn't carry the team on his back in the 2000s soley - he had the passionate Antoine Walker behind him - Pierce was easily the better basketball player, but Toine brought things to the table that got even more out of him and his teammates, imo

chew on this - the celtics made the playoffs in 2002, 03, 04, 05, and 08 with Pierce - the years 2002, 2003,  2005....guess what happened in 04...c's get swept in the 1st round....

I'm sorry, I actually meant 2004/2005 after we traded Employee #8/Came back and didn't do much

Come on. Kobe is a superior player to Paul, and we all love Paul. Are people going to really use the fact that Kobe had Shaq to diminish having 3 championship rings? Consider - I would much rather have the C's 3-12 of last season than the Lakers 3-12. Pierce was not even the best player on the Celtics last season, let alone the best player in the league.

Is Chauncey Billups better than Kobe? Keep things in perspective.

I'm sure this has been said, but for that Series, he was indeed the best player on the planet.

I'd rather have Duncan than Kobe on my team anyway, so the argument about whether Kobe is better than P2 is academic.

I totally agree about the Kobe/Pierce thing.

Do you really think they are going to lose in the Olympics?
