I don't know what to think of this trade.  Pudge is certainly an upgrade over Molina offensively, but I think they are taking a step back defensively, and in calling games...not to mention giving up a very valuable piece to their pen.

I like the aggressiveness by the Yankees, they are really making some splashy moves without giving up too many prospects...but I don't know if they are really helping themselves too much.

I think giving up Farnsworth is going to be a mistake.  Their bullpen has been a strength recently.  They're giving up a big part of it.

I don't get it. Molina didn't seem to be the problem. Why trade away your setup guy for a position which has been fairly strong for you. I would have thought they'd try to get some pitching.

I love this trade for the Yanks.  (I'm a Yankee Fan).  By getting Marte in the last trade Farnsworth became expendable (plus they have a bunch of relivers in the minors) and Pudge is a huge upgrade in the line up over Molina.  I like Molina and didn't mind him as the starter but  Pudge is a nice upgrade.  Last week the Yanks had three dead bats in their line up, Left field, Center, and catcher.  Now they have 1.  Nady and Pudge may not be big time hitter but they are big upgrades over the guys they are replacing and the Yanks gave up nothing to get them.

Pudge is well past his prime, not a wise move for the Yankees, so I love it.

When is that organization going to get it again and realize that pitching wins and they just gave up the most effective set-up guy in the league over the last 2 months or so.

And to do it for a guy that is so obviously worse defensively than Molina. This has Steinbrenner written all over it.

I think more than that, they just brought in a guy who is notorious for being one of the worst game calling catchers in the league.

This is the third 8th inning guy they have lost in 2 years.  2 of which were traded away for utility guys that will not be official starters for their team.  good management.

I don't know how I feel about this one.  Pudge is great, but they need pitching.  First Joba is out of the middle relief, now Farnsworth.  Molina was doing a decent job.  This is confusing.

I think they want to move that rat-face catcher (I forget his name) over to DH.

Also, it could be arbitrage against a Red Sox deal.

Varitek is getting old, and Pudge IS a good hitting catcher. I mean, if you have the worst game-calling catcher in the league, Dice-K and Beckett aren't a bad one and two.

Solid move by the Yanks...wonder what the fans (you know the ones with attitude after two successful years in the last 84) think about their club standing pat while everyone else makes moves...tick..tick..tick... ;D

We don't worry about it. The Sox are slumping right now, but are a better team than they are playing like right now. The Yankees are the ones that look desperate and ill informed with moves like this one.

C'mon guys, let's be realistic! Yanks replace a good righty reliever, with a good lefty that they didn't have! Replaced Justin Christian/Brett Gardner with Xavier Nady, and Jose Molina/Chad Moeller with Pudge Rodriguez! Now only the most homer or homer RS fans can say those aren't major upgrades for the Yanks! If they get a quality starter also, Sox/Rays may be in for some trouble!

i am not happy with the sox. the Yanks are doing all they can with trades for a playoff run while the sox are talking about trading away their best player. its really sad. getting swept by the angels at home too.
we need to find a good short stop, and figure out what the hell happend to this team after the all star break
