It is time to make this deal happen.  A veteran SF who is a highly efficient scorer who can play team defense.  A two year contract makes sense.

How good is this guys lateral quickness. I'm just sick of washed up perimeter defenders that get blown by against slashers. Anyways If Patrick O'Bryant can be a solid backup (with his freakish 9'4 standing reach) then Michael Finley might be our best chance!

I'd be interested in him, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the "wait-and-see" approach.

Every part of Finley's game is done. How about we not get this deal done?

Would he agree to sign here for the minimum?

I'd rather give Tony Allen the opportunity. Tony's a better player.

If Finely would agree to come here to play second fiddle to Tony and provide some insurance I'd be happy with that.

Even at this point in his career, Tony Allen is not even close to as good as Finley.

Both are poor ball handlers.  The only difference is that Michael Finely is smart enough to realize it.  Michael is still an efficient scorer with a good outside shot and a low turnover rate who can play team defense.  He isn't what he used to be, but you wouldn't be asking him to be.

Tony is a turnover machine.  A player too dumb to play to his strengths.  An undersized shooting guard with a poor handle whose highly athletic dunks make people believe he is better than he actually is.

If you are looking at options for the money we have available, Finley or Kirk Snyder are probably the best available ones.

This is the point, thanks Who. The guy is a veteran that gives a little insurance behind TA until Giddens and Walker are ready to contribute. The fact that he understands team D and would have the respect of Doc, Paul, Ray and KG is nice as well, not to mention the younger guys. We will not be relying on him for a lot of scoring or anything.

He, Eddie, TA and Leon (with possibly POB) would be the second unit for a couple of minutes against the other teams second unit. I can live with that if I dont get my expectations too high. 8)

You have got to be kidding me. Micheal Finley is done in every aspect of the game. Any team who gives this guy a contract is a sucker. Finley just cannot play the game at this level anymore, simple as that. I'd much rather have Tony play all the back up minutes for Ray and Paul than put Finley into the mix. Also, Finley is too small too guard most 4's and power 3's in the league. So he cannot do what Posey did for us. Finley is also too slow to guard 2's and 1's. The fact that you said Finley is better than Tony Allen makes me glad you are not affiliated with the Celtics organization.

Definitely a last option. Finley is washed up. He would only be good for three point shooting because theres no way he would still be able to play defense.

Finley's done as a 25-30 minute a game player, but as an eighth man off the bench, 10-15 minutes a night backing up Pierce?  He'd be great.  Another guy to spread the floor and provide offense for the second unit, and a true professional.  Give Tony Allen a chance to earn some of those minutes, but they'll still be some PT to be had.  Tony'll mostly back up at the 2, anyway.

Would you rather be counting on Bill Walker or Scalabrine to be backing up at the 3?

At this point in Finley's career, I'd rather have Scal play the 3 for 10 minutes a night.

Finley did have his moments during the last playoff run of the SPURS...

but he isn't as exposive and dependable as before...

might be worth the veterans minimum though as another veteran presence...

but hey...we now have FINALS experience...doesn't that make all our players FINALs VETERANS?   ;D

I think Danny needs to find 1 veteran who can help guard Lebron James in the playoffs. I don't think Finely is that guy. He too slow at this point in his career. I'd rather put my money on Darius Miles with his only goal being to be healthy enough to contribute in the playoffs.

Yep.  Finly is done.  I'd rather not sign anyone than to sign Finley.
