I is so obvious that he let himself go. He is in good shape for a lineman; but not the NBA. Anyone seen Oden lately. He is a monster. I think he over did it; but even so he has a completely different frame and carries it well if a little top heavy. BBD has a much lower center of gravity which could be an advantage if he can maintain some leaping ability. His conditioning was pathetic in the playoffs. No excuse.

my hunch is BB comes in at about 285-290.

my hunch is he comes in at 260.(losing 15 pounds)

he will be in a contract renewing situation after this upcoming season and knows he can't mess around eating burgers all the time etc

imo if he ever gets to 240-250 he will be a wicked player. It will help him gain much needed lift and endurance

If he comes in at 260 he would have lost 30 pounds, not 15.

its hard to lose weight when you've maintained that weight playing through hs, college, and the 4st year in the nba. i can see him loosing at most 20-30 pounds throughout his entire career.

Yea I hear ya on this. Its not like he was thin or got thin and then put on weight. He's always been fat and last year he managed to lose some weight but was still pretty fat. Not sure he'll ever be thin. If he could get down to C Barkley's playing weight that would be an accomplishment.

If he ever gets to 240-250, Davis will be the NBDL's best tweener.  His bulk is what makes him a factor inside.  At 6-8, 240, Davis would get pushed around by taller, bigger 4s and 5s and still would be way too slow to play the 3.  At 270-280, he's got the bulk and unique skills to compete as a short 4/5.  But he needs both bulk and skills to compete at his height.

I'd rather see him develop a 18' jump shot than lose a few pounds.

he is a good player as it is, that's all we need, a nice bench contributor. He just needs to get more confident and that's it...

He won't get pushed around at 250. You can be 170 pounds and still be a rock compared to a 200 pounder

Glen davis is naturally thick boned and has an anchor of a lower body and excellent upper body. Even at 250 he will be hard to push around unless he is facing shaq. But at 250 compared to 280-290 he is now, he will be able to jump a little higher and not run out of breath as fast

I took this picture during the 2007 Reebok Summer League in Las Vegas.  Davis needed 2 chairs to sit on!   :o

Glen Davis is going to be making an appearance at the new Sports Authority on 101A in Amherst, NH Saturday 8/16 from 1-2:00 p.m. That's right up the street from me. I'll see if I can get him to sign a rookie card for me... maybe hop on a scale... or take a body fat test.   ;)

To be fair to Glen the dude weighed a kind 345lb as a freshman.  He lost [dang] near 20% of his body mass to get to 282lbs.  That is like someone 200lbs going to 160lbs.  He can get in better shape and that actually isn't likely reduce his weight all that much more.

Anyway a before pick or two

Apparently that big boy could also run 5 sec. 40.

This dude is practically Jared by comparison

240? Are you serious?  By his height alone he should never be under 250ish.  That would put him at PP's size.  He would have to be on a kate moss prescribed diet to get that skinny and he would look really weird like fat **** after he lost all of the weight in Austin Powers.  ;) I have a feeling you're putting him in the 240 range because of a dream of him turning into a Barkley.  I would love that too, but he would need some flubber to get his !@$% up in the air like sir charles did.

In all seriousness though, you guys are underestimating how in shape davis really is.  If you met him up close you'd say "@#$%" he's big, but then you'd realize how cut he is.  I swear to god he is in decent shape if not better than what you would imagine and the way he stayed home from vegas this summer and went straight to the gym I could only imagine he will look better.

I'm guessing 265 at training camp.
