According to LOY's place, he declined Golden State's offer:

" A Warriors source told Bay Area News Group that Evans spurned their three-year, $6.4 million looking for more money, and so the Warriors changed direction and matched the Azubuike offer. There have been rumors that the Celtics have contacted Evans and it seems that he would be a nice fit for the Celtics who could use an athletic swingman like Evans who's known as a solid defender and good three-point shooter (sound like anyone the Celtics just lost?)"

We have a little more money left in the MLE for him, i wonder if Danny would like to sign this player. I believe he is a good defender with nice shooting touch...thoughts?

considering that he's a 6'5 SG and the celtics just re-signed Tony Allen and House I say no, we don't need him. We need a backup SF and a vet center.

How much more money would he want by my calculations the most we could sign him for would be three years 7.4 mill. Is he really that good? I know he played a lot but I didn't see him having a huge impact.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Quote taken from hooopshype.com:
"Before deciding to keep Azubuike, the Warriors had flirted with Orlando free-agent swingman Maurice Evans for a few days. A Warriors source said Evans spurned their three-year, $6.4 million offer in search of more money. But the source said if Evans' demands were too high, the Warriors would just match Azubuike because Evans, who turns 30 in November, is significantly older than Azubuike, who turns 25 in December. Apparently, Evans' demands were too high."

So...no. We don't have a chance of getting Mo Evans right now unless he figures out that he's not worth anything more than what GS was offering him. I'm still surprised that not only did we miss out on Matt Barnes, but we missed out on a minimum contract that he signed with Phoenix.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I would rather have TA than Barnes, and I would rather keep some of the MLE available if a vet big man becomes available.

He might be a better fit than TA (might being the operative word), but that ship has sailed.  At this point, all it'd seem to do is add even more undersized, mediocre swingmen to lineup already full of them.

I mean that description they had of him, while it could be attributed to Posey, it could also be attributed to Giddens.  Is it really worth paying him that money when he might not even beat out Allen, Giddens, Walker, and/or Pruitt?

I agree he is undersized, but i think he is a different kind of player than Allen...

I don't see it happening.  I think Danny wants to see what he has in Tony, JR, Walker, Pruitt and O'Bryant before filling that roster spot.  The only way I see him filling it before the season is either through a trade, or if a significantly better player than what they have right now came along...and Evans is not that player.

I think there's enough money available to make that signing happen.

I don't think the signing will happen because I don't think Danny wants to do that. He wants to give Tony a shot.

Yes, I also think he's different: more of a jump-shooter, not a slasher. On defence, he's not as quick but he's smarter. Plays better off the ball and he takes better care of it.

But I agree with Jon, he'd probably be a better fit but we don't need another swingman in the rotation.

He's going to sign in Atlanta, I think. It was no coincidence he backed off the deal with Golden State after the announcement of Childress' signing with Olympiacos.

I agree.  I mean this isn't the army.  It's not like adding one more player necessarily increases our chances of winning.  It only increases our chances of winning if he cracks the rotation and contributes more than the player he displaces.  That could happen with Evans; however, given the fact that he a) might not crack the rotation, and b) might not be that much of an upgrade over what we would've had in their anyway, I don't think that justifies burning our last roster spot.  We'd probably benefit more from upgrade at the backup 5 or backup 1 before we went to another backup 2/3.

I agree with Chris's points, but suspect that the last slot (assuming both Gidden and Walker are signed) will be held open for a 5 that can rebound and hit a juump shot (PJ Brown type of player), and the remainder of the MLE, after using part for Walker, will be held in reserve for that same purpose.  Evans is obviously not that player.

That's probably the case.  Although I think Danny is still open to the possibility that O'Bryant may make that less necessary.  Its not likely, but I am sure they want to wait and see.

Well it seems that DA is really on vacation considering the quiet offseason we have had so far.
