Compairing a the last rookie selected in the 1st round to a guy that has become a fringe all-star.

Really not fair to the Celtics rookie.  Let him find his own way in this league without putting such high expectations.

Although to be fair, Howard was the last rookie picked in the first round as well.

And they both were the reigning players of the year in their conferences.

That may be where the comparisons stop though.

Certainly, the potential is there for Giddens to help this team a lot...but lets not get carried away.

They are comparable if they came into the league at the same time.

But Howard has done more then what was expected.

I expect Giddens to become a solid NBA player by next year.   Anything more then that is a bonus for the team.

What's the deal with JR?  I haven't heard a peep about him since he left rookie camp because he didn't have a deal.

Anyone?

From what i understand he hasn't yet signed a contract.  This seems odd to me as his salary and contract length are slotted.  Anyone have any idea why the holdup?

This has been posted like 20 times, but in different threads: a player can be signed for something like 80% to 120% of the set value.

Howard might be a proud pot head, but he doesn't deserve to be compared to an unproven 2nd rounder yet to play a minute as a pro. Wait a year to make this comparison.
Can't stop, Rondo!
