SI.com is reporting that, with Kurt Thomas' decision to resign with San Antonio, Robert Horry's days with the Spurs may be all but over. Assuming, he has interest in playing somewhere outside of Texas (which he may not), why not take a shot on a one-year veteran's minimum deal?

He is 38 years old, and barely played half a season last year, so I'm not suggesting that he can jump in and fill the role Posey played for us last year.

But, assuming Tony Allen is 100% healthy, and Rondo, Perkins, Powe and Davis (not to mention Pruitt, Giddens and Walker) continue to improve in their young careers, Horry will not have to fill Posey's role. He will simply be someone to provide a veteran presence, spot minutes at 3 and 4, adequate 3-point shooting and, of course, the occasion big shot.

If Horry is interested in coming to the C's, and Danny & Co. are hesitant about adding any longer term contracts, this is something that may work.
With the 55th pick in the 1997 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics select Ben Pepper, from Australia.

Anyone have a youtube clip of Horry throwing a towel in Ainge's face?  That should tell you all you need to know about Ainge's interest in Robert Horry.  Nevermind the fact that the guy is pretty much done as a player.

The funny thing is, I was actually at that game, as it happened when Ainge was coach of the Suns and they were playing at Boston. I wouldn't read too much into that, as it happened in 1996.

I'm not saying he should play a big role, but if he's healthy, he could have a positive impact on the team.

He is done.  Otherwise, SA would have brought him back.

If someone cut off his pinky toe and fit it onto a key chain I'd carry it, thats about the interest

It does appear he doesn't have anything left after watching him last year.  It's a shame, because he would be a good fit here.  Despite having more of a perimeter oriented game, he is 6-10 and pretty long, so you could probably play him with Baby or Powe.  Plus, with his range and knack for hitting big shots, he'd be a nice way to spread the floor to open things up for others to penetrate to the hoop.

Unfortunately, though, he appears to be done and his history with Ainge wouldn't help things.

Horry does/did have some skills that would fit well with the Celtics, especially Horry from 5 years ago.

But personally, I don't like him as a player.  I like players who compete and don't like players who coast, for which Robert Horry is the poster boy.  I think this is why I never liked Shaq or Vince Carter, but could follow bad Celtics teams in recent years.  Rings, pedigree and accolades are nice, but I'd prefer watching players who bust their butts every night.

From what I understand Horry has a special needs child and doesn't want to stray far from here home.  If he doesn't sign with a Texas team, I don't see him playing anymore. Maybe he can show his old team how to win a playoff series.

We can look for reasons as to why we SHOULDN'T sign him... but really, what other options are available? The free agent market is thinning out by the hour. We have to make some personnel moves from the free agent bank fast.

Can he play Center? No? There's your answer.

Not at all I think at this point he has not much left in the tank.  Also it seems like the C's want to keep a roster spot incase soemthing happens during the season.

He's likely finished unfortunately. Poor season last year.

If he could get back to his form two seasons ago when the Spurs won the title, I'd delightfully take that Robert Horry.

I'd be all over Horry if he is willing to come to Boston, he would probably be cheap.  He had some injuries last year, but if he is healthy, he could definitely contribute on some level.

Having his experience on the bench would be great - he can really help spread the court, something we lost with Posey.
