Hey, I just joined the site today, but have enjoyed reading the discussions on here for years.  So, here's my first topic, which has most likely been discussed over the past few weeks...

With James Posey gone and the options at replacing him becoming pretty limited (ex. Matt Barnes signing with Suns), what would you guys think of bringing Ricky Davis back to Boston?

I know that he isn't really the best team-player and isn't a great defender along with some character issues, but the guy could be a pretty good scorer off the bench.  He usually averages 16-18 points per 40 minutes and his season averages have been very consistent throughout his career.

I think he would be able to spell Ray Allen and Paul Pierce throughout the game and be a serviceable 6th man, although not as good as Posey.

What do you think it would take to get him (yrs and money per) and do you think this would be a good idea compared to the other options left on a diminishing market?

I think if we got him and one more big man (Chris Andersen perhaps), that the Celtics would look very good going into next season.

Welcome to the forum!

Solid first post! But with that said, I personally might not want Rick Daddy back (that's what I call him, I don't know why)...because I'm not altogether sure if Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett would be happy being teammates with him again.
Anything is possible!!!

I think with the resigning of Tony Allen, there is little room for Ricky Davis on the team at this point.  The Celtics biggest need right now is a big man.

Someone will sign Ricky to a decent deal, and I wish him the best of luck.

Please don't. We already have a glut of SGs.. What I think the Cs need is someone like Posey who is a 3 who can play some 4..  ;D  :o  ;D

He won't sign for the vet min, and we are definitely full of SGs. We need more versatile players. A SF and a more agile C would be great. Birdman fits the C style, b/c he's long enough to block shots and get rebounds, but his game doesn't require the ball to stop and let him post up. The SF has to be a good defender that can hit a 3 or run and pass. DMiles fits the run and pass role with good defense, but Mo Evans fits the good defender that can hit the open 3 for us. Back to the main topic of Davis though...No. He might get 16ish ppg, but it requires ALOT of shooting. Our bench has to be made of players that make high percentage shots. Great dunkers, spot up shooters, and great offense rebounders.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Who needs a gnagster when you got a winning franchise?  Ricky Davis goes for his and doesn't seem to care about winning.  He'd rather feed his posse and walk his pit bull, than play defense and buy into a team concpet.

The rumour I heard is that Ricky has a huge offer from a Russian team - so that's where he will probably play. It absolutely dwarfs the vet min - or even the other half of the MLE.

That's awesome for Ricky... I heard he likes vodka, cold soup, and the smell of fresh ammunition being fired off at sunrise.  Plus, he always wanted to be slavic growing up.

This is one of the most irresponsible posts I've ever read on this board.

I second that.

Way to go with the stereotype.

I'm going to repeat Steve's warning from another thread:

"Just a quick reminder, folks: Let's please make as much of an effort as possible to be cautious with the racial rhetoric.  The goal here is to keep the thread on topic ... and I respectfully ask that we all be careful with the use of terms that have been established as particularly charged and that all maintain respect for the other posters on board."

Steve, of course, is nicer than me.  Let's end the racial talk, now.

If we didn't have TA I would think of taking a flyer on him but as other posters have said the SG position is already full and he doesn't fit a need on this team.
