Rumors that the Nets Sean Williams might be available in a package with Marcus Williams, who has now become expendable with the recent signing of Keyon Dooling.

Sean will be one of the premier shot blockers in the league for years to come.  He is long, athletic, rebounds....did I say block shots.

Again, I know with the signing of O'Bryant means we have other holes to fill, but Sean is an extreme talent that would look great in green!

They are looking for a vet to help them.

Unless they consider Scali 'that vet', we can forget about this little dream.

if those guys are so good why are they available from a team that desperately needs good young, players on cheap contracts?

I agree. I'd love to have him on celtics, but i don't think we have what nets want in return.

Sean Williams will be a better Marcus Camby.  And Marcus looks like a servicable PG.  No idea why they are up for grabs but I would take a fly on them.  Backup PG, and an athletic, LEGIT low post defensive threat that can rebound.....looks like two birds with one stone.

Amen.  I'm in love with Williams' shot-blocking ability, and I think with time and coaching (behind door two...Clifford Ray!) he's got the potential to become a big-time interior defender in the league.  Love to have him in Boston, but as many have already intimated, it's hard to see it happening....

I think Ainge is looking to plug O'Bryant in as the backup to Perk right off, which is fine by me. He will be better than Pollard for sure.

Of course I wouldn't be against seeing Sean Williams in green, though. Just don't see Ainge making the move.

I can't imagine coaching both Stromile Smith and Sean Williams on the same team. At least you can run the same "no plays for the PF" offense with both the first and the second team.

And to think that the Cs were thinking about Marcus Williams instead of Rondo two three drafts ago.  Good think RR destroyed him in those one on one battles in front of Ainge.

How about BBD, a signed JR Giddens, and a second for Sean Williams? BBD gives them some needed bulk, and Giddens a RJ type at 1/12th the price.  Since they have a similar player in Smith already, it might be a smart move.  Between Josh Boone, Ryan Anderson, a resigned Nenad Krstic, Smith,  Yi, Brook Lopes, and Sean W, they have way too many bigs.  BBD is a different kind of player than these guys, and has a big upside if he can get in great shape.

Sean Williams could really thrive in the right situation, like with the Cs, but on a young team stocked with players at his position, he could be a huge problem.

Ray > Carter.  No thanks.

But I'd love to see Sean Williams in green.

  • The good ole days.
Based on the premise (Williams & Williams as a package), the main reason I can't see it happening is because the Celtics really don't need Marcus Williams.  They have one promising young point guard starting, it is not in the Celtics or M. Williams' best interests for him to join the Cs.  Also, the Williams & Williams tandem would demand more than the Celtics can offer without dipping into the starting 5.
