With JPosey now gone, and FA's seemingly dropping like flies(most of the good ones, anyway), it seems like the mood on the board is getting very restless, frustrated, ranging to downright PO'd!
I get the feeling DA is begining to sense the fans' frustration with the lack of movement, and think to throw them a bone one of the rookies will be signed imminently to quell things a bit, and give people a LITTLE something positive to talk about!
What's everyones best guess as the FIRST signing news? I keep checking several times a day hoping for some good news---and NOTHING! Does kind of get you down. Just have to have faith in DA, but it is difficult!
I"ll say Bill Walker gets the first NEW contract!

James Posey was signed on August 27th last year.

^ yeah, but unless you want malcontents like Marbury or Bonzi, there really isn't anyone left as good as Posey this year.

Personally, I'm not too psyched with the "Natives getting restless" tag. Pretty demeaning to American Indians... It made me think of this:

Come on man, dont feel offended.  I dont think the author had any intention whatsoever, and the link u send us, I wasnt too sure what the deal too.  Was it the cover people were offended about?  What was the content of its article?  That article didnt explain too much, although the fact that they didnt go along with their mission statement sucks.
Baby Jesus!

The C's just won #17, and did so against the frachise's biggest nemesis (apart from Phili).  We're barely a month removed from that.  If you're feeling restless after that then you have a problem with perspective.

Losing Posey is not the end of the world.  Loosing House will not be the end of the world.  If those two were irreplaceable they wouldn't have been on the FA market in August of last year.

On top of that, I wouldn't project your own angst on the everyone else.  If you learn anything trolling the boards it's that there is no undefined "we" of collective unity on message boards. Even here not everyone who posts and chimes in are Celtic fans.

If the Celtics fail to repeat this year it wont be because Posey was not on the team.

They were free agents last in august last year because they were replaceable to their respective teams.  This year they each brought their own skills to this team and obviously nobody is really "irreplacable," I learned that after nomar in 04, but these two players were significant parts to our team and will be tough to find players that can bring similar skill sets to our team.

People were restless before Posey even signed elsewhere, wanting to set deadlines and get the show on the road. It'll likely only get worse, now that he's gone, other FAs are gone, and the C's still don't have a respectable bench.

Danny doesn't seem in any real rush either ... a couple more players have gone off the board over the past few days. That'll probably make people more concerned.

  • Basketball is like chess, only without the dice
Besides Posey (and Diop, Beno, etc.), the remaining free-agents are basically 3rd tier players. No one is good enough to be a clear 6th man. So, why the anxiety? It won't make much of a difference if we sign X or Y.
