hope i do this right... long time reader, first time poster.
i've been thinking this past week or two about louis williams
RFA if i'm right.
good, young, pg, scorer...
signable within MLE?

what do y'all think?
specifically
does he have value we want?
does philly match?
does he fit in the rotation seeing as we have a pretty nice looking young pg already?

(also, i should say, i love the site.  worst suck on productivity in my life)

Welcome.

Answering your questions:

I think he's good and has the potential to be better.

I'd like to have him, but I'm not sure if I want another PG without range in his shot besides Rondo and a roster with three point guards under 23 years old.

Finally, I believe Philly would match any reasonable offer.

From what I've heard Philly really likes him and I also thought I heard that Andre Miller was wearing out his welcome.

I definitely think Philly matches any offer we make.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Louis Williams has range. He took 150 three pointers and made 36% of them last season.

Hoopshype said that GSW were looking at him. That would be an interesting pairing with himself and Ellis ... plus it puts Phily's hopes of contending in a dangerous spot.

louis williams!?!?!?  are you kidding me.  That would be a horrible pickup.  What are you going to suggest next, giving scal an extension for double the cash?!?!? It's no wonder why you don't have any tommy points....

I give myself a tommy point for that post!!!

He would be a nice pickup, but the Celtics can't (and shouldn't anyways) offer enough money that the 76ers will not match.

I think he's great. only 21 and already has improved to hit .359 from 3's (no range on his shot?). I would have been ready to throw the whole MLE at him, but then I read that G.S. was thinking about going above that. I think Philly would match any MLE or below offer without a second thought anyway; Golden State is probably the only team that could go too high for philly to match.  But like I said, keep an eye on him. only 21 and he's improved every year so far.

This kid is going to be a star.

He's got all the tools and physical gifts. The only thing stopping him is work ethic and desire and since I've never heard anything remotely close to being negative on these two accounts he's going to be great.

The NBA should fear this kid.

Alan spam and Alan Smell are the same people right? They sure spam a lot..

Anyways, regarding Louis Williams, there's no way we will get him, and I think he will be a good player. Not the right fit for this team at his price, which is understandable.

Louis Williams--- For  one i doubt  the C's are going to get him, it would be a serious mistake of the Sixers to let Williams go !
This kid is absolutely a good player with the potential to be a multi time All Star.
He's  quick as a cat, he's a very good finisher once in the paint and he's a fairly good and creative passer, he can score both inside and outside and is a real nag pressuring the ball defensively.
Honestly Williams could press Rondo for the starting position ! Either way I would love to  see Williams on this team.

We also only have a portion of the MLE left to use (around 2.8 mil).  This is due to the E. House/T. Allen signings.

As for Williams, he's a great athlete, reminds me of Derrick Rose without the court vision.  He'd look great in green, but unfortunately, he won't sign.

i would prefer someone more proven and experienced. williams has potential, but we have rondo and pruitt, so i would like a vet in there to help balance things.

no, rondofan, alanspam and alansmells are different.  alansmells is my loving brother making a name up just to make fun of me in the digital world.  i'm sorry he defaced this wonderful blog with his evil slime.
as to the louis williams question, now it's pretty moot without much money and a sign-trade being pretty unimaginable.
i guess my original thought process was, instead of a glue guy as a sixth man like posey, maybe we could go with an offensive threat who could really keep the pressure on the other team (maybe similar to the thought process behind looking at maggette).  i thought williams had that along with the ability as an improving PG to keep the offense going much better than we had last year with rondo on the bench.  he would seem to be a real strong sixth man candidate, potentially a starter for some team soon, and as some people say, maybe a star.
interestingly, after our signings, the team has its 5 starters and then a few 7th 8th-type-men, one of whom will possibly step up.  if we had gotten williams, with him my guess is we would have had a legit sixth man type.  in that case, however, we probably couldn't have resigned house, but still could have gotten TA.
so, if getting him even would have worked (and as everyone says, philly might match any amount of years all the way up to the MLE), at this point in the offseason, we could be a similar looking team.  the differences might have been we could have basically swapped out house for williams, had a higher luxury tax, and had probably zero or near-zero of our MLE left.  does that make us better?  if so, does it make us better enough to pay an extra several million dollars?  and does williams even have enough position-flexibility to play more than 15 minutes backing up rondo?  just a brain exercise at this point, but i'm still intrigued.  i don't know, i think i've hit one of those mini-obsessions.
i appreciate multiple posters worries that having all young pg's on the roster could have been a problem.  shoulda thought of that - thanks.  at the same time, it also looks like we won't sign an experienced pg this year.  though house is expereinced and can handle a lot of point, i don't think house really fits the bill as, say, a mentor to the young pg's.  so as it stands, it looks like we won't bring in an experienced pg, no?
