Let me first say I'm no fan of Devean George and I believe his limited game is in decline.

Second this is Hoopsworld an often unreliable source

and

Third I read this morning a reporter from the Dallas News saying they THOUGHT George "should" be a target for the Celtics since he is unlikely to return to Dallas.  Then I look later on in the day and they report it as if the Celtics are targeting him but I think the article suggests (if you follow the thread) that this is more them hypothesizing than based on any actual discussions or talks that have been had.

Bottom line is I don't think this is real at least not yet.

George is no great shakes but he can be a solid 8th man type. Need to get good contributions elsewhere if he's the guy.

He's one of the players I hate most in the league... hope Danny is not going after him, and if he is, it better be way down in the list.

I also think he currently sucks... he's one of the reasons why the Dallas team has struggled. Awful shooting % coupled with awful shot selection. He's not needed, in fact, he should be avoided at all cost.

Why do you hate him?

I'm not his biggest fan. Overrated throughout his career. Just about functional as a player.

I thought last season was one of his better years ...

Agree with Who. George is a functional role player with multiple championships. He could help replace Posey. Keyword - Help...not fully replace. George has championship experience which is a big plus.

What? He completely sucked last year... and if you consider that as one of his better years, then we should REALLY avoid him.

As to why I hate him? Well he was a Laker for many years AND I think he sucks... a lethal combination in my book.

I'd be surprised if any Dallas fan wants him back... personal friends that are Dallas fans have cringed every time he gets on the floor. I can't say it enough, awful shot selection and not an accurate one at that.

George showed more of an all-round game last season (than previous seasons). Most of his struggles came from a poor Dallas squad.

You're right the Celtics should avoid him. He's on the lower end of my wish list but of those lower guys, I'm fairly comfortable with him in comparison to those other fallback options.

Isnt this the clown who blew up the Jason Kidd deal with his no trade clause? 8)

Of all the things, this is one I don't mind nor blame him for. No one in his right mind with a no trade clause would agree to get traded to the Nets when your in a squad with Championship possibilities.

Of all the players out there in free agency, we're left talking about Devean George?! That's just wrong. We're talking about a guy that went 0-11 last year with the Mavs and got booed not only for his lack of a shooting ability, but his choice to prevent him being traded to the Nets for Kidd. I would have rather seen Trenton Hassell stay than George...not that he would have made a difference to the Mavs getting taken out by NO, but still. Lets talk about someone else that has talent, leave George looking for a contract with a desperate team.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I dont blame him for refusing either, that was/is his right. I just remember that he was the cause that the original trade needed to be restuctured according to media sources. I think the whole thing was handled poorly by the Mavericks orginization and George's agent. I still think he is a clown, though. 8)
