In this interview with P.J. Brown, he says he is 50-50 about coming back next year?  What?!  Everyone has lead us to believe he was going to retire?  If he comes back, would he come back to the Celtics or do you think he would go to his hometown Hornets along with James Posey?

Depends on how much he likes playing in Boston.

hope he decides before the season.  I don't want to see the Celtics go into the season holding a spot for him in the hope he might return.

He says 50-50...to me thats the same as Danny Glover saying "I'm gettin too old for his.." in leathal weapon. Translation: Yeah I will probably be back, but that whole 'regular season' thing...ehhhhh...

I would be ok with from March on like last year.  I was just curious as to whether he would come back to the Celtics or not.

yeah, i think that would be perfect actually.....having PJ come back for another late season push for a Title.

that's why i would rather they not spend any MLE on another big.....just let POB take Pollard's minutes...or even bring back Pollard for short money....i liked having him on the team.

since we missed out on Pose, i would sign House, TA  and Walker and leave the rest of the MLE open to use during the season if someone becomes available and play  JR or Walker as the backup SF....

i also would consider signing Miles for the short money he is saying he would sign for...

not ideal losing Pose, but i would rather gamble on PJ coming back. he was a real boost for us.

Are there enough roster spots for what you want to do?  We have 10 under contract, then to add Walker (11), Giddens (12), Tony (13), House (14) PJ - if he comes back (15).  That means there is no roster spot available to leave the MLE open for someone that may become available during the season.

Sure would be nice if we can somehow dump Scal's useless contract.

It'd be fantastic if he came back.  Sure, O'Bryant might be good; he also might be a bust.  With Brown we get a known commodity and even if he played the whole season, we could keep his minutes low enough to avoid wearing him down.

If I was P.J., I'm not sure I'd want to come back, since I would have just ridden off into the sunset in picture-perfect style.  However, maybe he can't get enough of the success after it evaded him his whole career.

Another thought...maybe now that Posey's gone he thinks he can get a slice of the MLE...

that's true....maybe send Walker to play in Europe....

plus, i wouldn't expect PJ to sign until very late in the season, so even with Walker (which i would kinda rather him stick around) we would at least have one spot for most of the season to grab someone with and also more time to create another roster spot if it turns out we need it...

To leave for less than 4 months is something he could squeeze in if he really wanted to win another championship. He can spend time with his family until March, and play pickup games at the YMCA.

I like the idea of sending walker to Europe. Giddens would fit better in the rotation, plus we need vet experience, so we gotta sign DMiles. The 14 for next year should be...

Rondo, House, Pruitt
RAllen, TAllen,
Pierce, Miles, Giddens
KG, Powe, BBD, Scal
Perkins, OBryant
The 15th spot should be thrown around another free agent vet, but I'm not sure who's left that would work for the min since House & Tony would take up most of the MLE.
Maybe we could sign someone cheap, add them with Scal and trade them...but who to where?
Can't stop, Rondo!

i think it all depends on how in shape he is, and how close the celtics are to winning again. would he like another championship? of course he would. once a player retires, they get bored sometimes. however, i think if he comes back, it'll be a late season arrive and he'll play an even smaller role.

He will pull the same thing this year and just sneak into the team when ready towards the playoffs. He might also ditch the celts to play in new orleans for a final goodbye

If he plans to comeback it won't be well after the all star break. Regardless if he comesback then, he a guy i'd sign in a heartbeat

I thought PJ was going to join the Hornets last season. He'd have been a magnificent addition for them, maybe enough for them to get out of the West. Likely more valuable than Posey will be.

Surprised that he said he was 50-50 about coming back. If he does I expect Boston will be the first name on his list, the draw of coming back to defend a title is pretty strong. It's not like anyone is going to offer a huge amount of extra money for PJ to draw him away from Boston.
